Upgrading?

Recommended Posts

A few questions, since I'm new to this upgrade process. We are booked on Bliss for August on a family ocean view. What is a good upgrade bid for a balcony or mini suite?

Additionally, just wondering if anyone knows whether our prepaid gratuities & free at sea promotions carry over to the upgrade if we bid & are accepted?

As far as comparable upgrade, minus the balcony (small in itself) - usable interior space are reduced compared to your family oceanview, which should sleep up to 5. The mini-suites have a bigger bathroom, if I am not mistaken (a bathtub instead of a shower in some of them) and usable interior space (excluding the balcony space) is slightly, marginally bigger compared to the standard balcony staterooms, and sleep either 3 or 4, none of them sleep up to 5 - thus, it is smaller when compared to the family OV.

Pull up the standard floor plan for a balcony or mini-suite vs. the family OV, you can see the fairly "obvious" difference that the family OV is longer / greater depth.

Long story short, you keep & don't lose the current promo that you selected when booked; and, if you are lucky & successful with your bid for a GTY assignment, you do NOT get any extra or additional promo "Free At Seas" offer.

Refer to the linked thread/posts above for the details - it should answer 95% of any remaining questions. My oldest BIL/SIL had just sailed the Escape & they won an upgrade & got pleasantly surprised with a large balcony, it surely made a difference for 3 seniors sharing the space together. Bliss is the newest ship in the *Away Plus class and there are differences, there's plenty of time for fellow CC to return from sailing her & "file" their reports.

You keep your current promos.

If accepted, your bid is automatically charged to your credit card.

If you have travel insurance from NCL, you will be charged the difference in insurance cost from your original room to your new upgraded room.
