Cayman Island Time vs Carnival Tender Time with DST factored in

Cruising from Tampa on the Miracle May 6th. On May 11th the Miracle is at Grand Cayman from 10am until 6pm. Since Cayman is not on DST. What time is it actually in Grand Cayman? Is it 8am or 9am? Or is the posted itinerary Cayman time? I booked an afternoon Stingray City but the tour guy thinks we could do the morning. It meets at 8:45am local time at the tender dock. Also I will have to wait for ship excursions to tender in first. So if you have a handle on the times please put a note here. Thanks, Jim

The ship might change time to match island time....they will inform you if that's the case. At any rate, you will have time to meet your tour...those folks understand about ship's time. If the ship doesn't change to GC time, then you must set your watch (don't use your cell for this!) to match ship's clocks.....you don't want to risk missing the ship!

If you are leaving from Tampa, and the ship stays on EDT, you (the ship) will be one hour ahead of island time, which will be EST.

Assuming the Miracle does not change time, if your schedule says you port at 10am, that means you will port at 10am ship time. This will be 9am Island time.

BUT, if you are the only ship in port that day, they may hold the 8:45 departure a bit. It would seem silly to start an excursion 15 minutes before the only cruise ship ports for the day. Maybe they have enough on-island tourists to do so, but I have to think ships are their bread and butter on these excursions.

Edit: See the link below. The port says the ship is getting in at 8:00 a.m. So, maybe that's what the tour operator is looking at.

As mentioned, it is the Captain's discretion as to which time he wishes to maintain as ship time, but the actual time in port does not change. Don't worry now about ship time v port time. Your tour operator will know what time relative to his tour the ship arrives and will adjust accordingly. You just need to confirm with him what ship you are on and the published port times per your booked itinerary. Your bigger issue IMO is that GC is a tender port and everything will depend on how quickly you can get on a tender and get to the dock, which is where he will be waiting.

That all being said, clearly you need to understand once in port what time is ship time relative to port time to be sure you plan your return accordingly. That is the only concern you need to have regarding ship v port time.
