tgunn1978 Posted January 6, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 6, 2014 Hi. We are cruising from Galveston this week, and will arrive there on Wednesday. We usually go to Rainforest, but this time we want a fresh seafood restaurant that is not too expensive. THE SPOT had good reviews, but it's a counter service place. We want a place with full wait staff. And wheelchair accessible dining room and parking.
munchkin4 Posted January 6, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 6, 2014 You need to go to Casey's. Food is fantastic. Inside or outside dining. I hope we will get there early enough on Sunday to eat there!! Go on line to see menu and pricing. If it is a little high....we also like Bennos. More casual....you do order at the counter but they bring it to you. It is also very good....but Casey's is our favorite!
Galveston Cruiser Posted January 6, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 6, 2014 It's no longer Casey's; now named Nick's, after Nick Gaido. Also Gaido's - main restaurant On Seawall Blvd between 37th and 39th Sts. Other good fresh seafood restaurants are: Olympia at Pier 21 - Greek Saltwater Grill - Post Office between 20th & 21st Rudy & Paco's Post Office & 21st (Pricey but #1 here). Shrimp & Stuff - Ave O and 39th These all get their seafood from fish markets at Pier

raytownlady Posted January 17, 2014 #5 Share Posted January 17, 2014 Thanks for the list of good places, I was looking for the exact information. We're coming down a couple of days early and this helps!
DALSAL Posted January 25, 2014 #6 Share Posted January 25, 2014 Gaidos! We had our wedding reception there and the food is really good!
ssb Posted January 25, 2014 #7 Share Posted January 25, 2014 Gaidos! We had our wedding reception there and the food is really good! Yes Gaidos is a legendary institution of Galveston! The Pelican Club in the back is a great place for special occasions. I'm sure your reception was a wonderful one. :)
agreenway6 Posted January 26, 2014 #8 Share Posted January 26, 2014 I've always loved Fish Tales!
Galveston Cruiser Posted January 27, 2014 #9 Share Posted January 27, 2014 Glad you like Fish Tales, but it is a restaurant chain. Try the locally owned places for fresh seafood that is purchased locally at Pier 19.

I want to get fresh off the boat seafood. So I was wondering what kinds of fish would actually be locally caught? A lot of these restaurants have farm raise salmon on their menus, I can get that in Oklahoma with equal non-freshness. I assume the shrimp would most likely be local, but wasn't sure what else. You'd think people would play up the local caught on the menu.
Texas Tillie Posted October 20, 2017 #11 Share Posted October 20, 2017 Just heard on the news tonight that there will be very little local oysters. Too much fresh water got into the bays after the floods at the end of August. Oysters require a combination of salt and fresh water and too much fresh water does them in.:o:(
gagacruiser Posted October 21, 2017 #12 Share Posted October 21, 2017 I highly recommand Gaido's, they serve fresh seafood, and the prices are reasonable, I was there last saturday, it is also a iconic palce in Galveston.
