looking for any details on the revised Southern Caribbean 10 day to Grand Cayman, Jamaica, and the ABC islands. Would love to see dailies, hear about dining, hear what you did in ports, how was the entertainment, etc.

We were just on this cruise a few weeks ago and had a great time ...Jamaica I would not want to do again unless you had a tour ready ...the port was not great but we had a great pool day with no on on the ship ...Grand cayman we did the rays reef rum point tour and had a great time ..Bonaire we did the drift snorkel to Kleine Bonaire ...easy to get tickets right off the dock ...$20 each for the water taxi there and back ...............Now entertainment ...slow ...slow jazz...slow piano bar ....slow band ...there was no upbeat music we found until the last night the house band was playing rock ...even the trivia was slow paced ....but on a good note they make the Mojitos without the awful premix !!! bar service was quick ...casino paid off ...we came home with more than we started with and that has never happened before lol .....We are retired early 60s .... It was a great trip

Thank you for the report! Do you recall any activities during the sea days that were noteworthy? My daughter wants to try the Canvas By U if they have it- I've seen it listed on other Jade dailies- do you remember seeing it for this itinerary? Did you try the spa? I just got spa passes for the two adults- kids are finally old enough to be left alone! :)

Hey RJM. Just got off of the Jade 10 day X-mas cruise to Jamaica, Grand Cayman, and ABC's. It was an amazing trip.

They had the canvas by U on each of the sea days. My wife did a massage in the spa and said it was great and we would likely look into the passes in the future.

Grand Cayman - We have two younger kids and did the turtle farm. This was probably the kids favorite stop as you get to see some larger turtles, the kids got to hold babies, then we snorkeled with turtles. They also had a man made fresh water lagoon with slides.

We stopped at Margaritaville on the way back before getting on the ship. Don't waste your time.

Jamaica - Didn't want to take the hour + ride to go to Dunn's River or anywhere far so we just did Blue Water Beach which was 10 minutes away. Was a nice beach and reasonably priced. We were the only ship in port so it wasn't crowded.

Aruba - Eagle Beach. Decent stop, again pretty quiet and rented a jet ski for $50.

Curacao - Hato Caves and city tour by bus. Great trip, kids loves this as well, but the tour after the caves did get a little long for the young ones. Then we walked around town which was beautiful.

Bonaire - Took a cab to Coco Beach. Like all beaches there it was rocky with coral, but you could stick your head under water 5' off of the beach and see fish everywhere. If the kids were old I would do a real deal snorkel trip here for sure.

Yes I saw people doing the painting thing ....looked like they were having a good time ...We love the spas ..but only for cruises that have a lot of sea days ...so we did not even look ...The Asian place was easy to get into most nights ...not a lot of lines ...We went to Oshehans for lunch a lot .....they have a ceaser salad with grilled salmon that is so good ...order double salmon ...and the chicken fajitas are great ...The Champagne bar makes some awesome drinks ...

Thanks everyone! Any thoughts on the wine list? Is Rombauer chardonnay available by the bottle? We have the UBP- thoughts on the wines available by the glass? We are a little picky so I'm considering bringing my own... but it's a huge hassle with flying in the night before.

Kids club? Mine are 10 and 12....

Haven? we are in a 2 bedroom haven suite.... and updates on the refurbished haven area?

We did the relo cruise in October/November.

We were scheduled for a stop in San Juan but it was changed to Punta Cana. A terrible waste of time.

Enjoyed Bonaire and Curacao very much, we bought bus tours onboard. The Hato Cave is interesting but requires climbing about 97 stairs to enter, if that affects you. It's also an above ground cave - it's not cool inside, they run fans to keep air circulating.

We walked into town in Aruba, there is a free trolley that takes you around the shopping area. Some upscale shops near the casino.

Ocho Rios... ugh. Your Jamaican stereotypes all on display, from people hassling you as soon as you get off the boat, to the multiple "vendors" asking if you are "cool".

Hopefully the service at O'Sheehan's has improved. It was awful the entire time.

The ship was changing over its crew and entertainment after the relo. The cruise director was Paquito, who was goofy but okay.

Just got off the ship on Thursday having done the 10 day Xmas cruise.

This was our first cruise with NCL and we had just got off the Royals Rhapsody of the Seas the day before we sailed on Jade. Big difference in quality between the two lines and all in favour of NCL.

Had a balcony on deck 10 forward. Very nice cabin with just about enough storage space. Loved the bathroom though, shower twice the size of Royals, separate sink and separate toilet with a door. Great body wash supplied by the ship (Lemon grass I believe). TV channels are about the same on all ships but at least on NCL they had two channels dedicated to just movies and we managed to catch nearly all of them through the cruise. Reasonably up to date films like Kong and The Great Wall. Passed some time with them anyway.

Loved all the complimentary options on board such as Jasmin Garden (asian) and O'Sheehans. Always found a spot to sit at O'Sheehans no matter the time of day and its a good option for breakfast etc. The buffet was good for breakfast but very hit and miss for other times of day.

As for the ports of call. We have been to Aruba and Bonaire last year but the others were all new to us. In the Caymans we hung out in the port area until our privately booked glass bottom boat trip in the afternoon. The ship offers the trip at nearly 60 bucks a person but you can book through Atlantis for about 41 so much cheaper. We had lunch at Margaritaville and enjoyed the bar and the atmosphere (we are in our 50's). They had a dj that did some games with people on the stage but nothing as bad as say, Senor Frogs (such a dive).

In Jamaica (Falmouth) we just stayed in the port area. Had a wander and my wife got a very good pedicure for only 30 bucks. Bought some rum etc. in the duty free and got back on board. But everybody is very friendly and there wasnt much of a hard sell from the vendors. Also felt very safe. Heard from some people that we met onboard that they had gone to Dunns rivers falls etc. and that it was...just ok.

In Aruba we just wandered the port area and went to a nearby Starbucks and then a restaurant for lunch. Finished up at Joe Iguanas for drinks before heading back onboard. Last year we did a private taxi tour of the island. Way cheaper than the ships tour and only 6 of us on the tour.

Curacao we got off the ship and found some local vendors offering private island tours that lasted about 3 hours for 25 bucks a person. Our guy wasnt the best guide but we went to the Hato caves and then drove around the island showing us various spots. He dropped some off at beach and then he dropped my wife and I off near the swinging bridge. We walked around and stopped for a drink in the town before heading back to the shopping area near the ship where we had more cocktails before getting on board. My only thought about Curacao is that the tour brochures show you this pretty colourful town but in reality its just a few buildings on the water front. There is a massive oil production plant near the town plus there was a lot of garbage everywhere, floating in the water or just on the streets. They really need to put their tourist dollars to work and clean the place up.

Bonaire was our favourite stop this year. We had pre booked a golf cart through Bonaire Cruisers. Its 90 bucks a day plus a 100 deposit and you get it all day. We toured the south of the island at about 10 mph so were able to see it at a lesiurely pace. Saw flamingos and lots of lizards plus the salt mountains etc. Just a nice relaxed day and barely any people around.

We enjoyed the 10 day cruise much more than our Royal cruise the week before. The service was pretty good on NCL though I found the bar tenders in the general bar areas were just not putting much effort into the coctail side of things. We found that when we went to the Mojito bar or Martini bar there was a much more professional side to them and they took pride in their work. We didnt have a drink package, in fact we had none of the freebies that NCL "give" with their prices but we arent big drinkers in the long run. Including gratuities we only spent about 600 bucks on board which is pretty good for us.

Hope this helps
