Raynebaby Posted March 13, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 13, 2015 I know with Carnival you can buy a bottle of liquor to have it sent to your room while you're cruising. Does anyone know if you can do this on NCL? I know they were pretty expensive.
mpk218 Posted March 13, 2015 #2 Share Posted March 13, 2015 (edited) yes , stop by any bar or ask your Butler ;) It is a few dollars cheaper if you order it before you sail ... hawkeyetlse Posted March 14, 2015 #4 Share Posted March 14, 2015 (edited) Yes do a search for BAR SETUP ... it will be pricey and will come with some mixers and garnish as well.Keep in mind that the prices all went up on March 1.* You can see the current bottle prices on this menu: If anyone has a chance to call NCL and find out if the pre-order bar setup prices have also gone up (and if it's still a $3 service charge or more now), that would be useful to know. *EDIT: Actually, I take this back. Some of the bottles that used to be $100 have actually gone down in price… to $99! Otherwise, the $80 bottles are now $86 and the $120 bottles are not $129. catspajamasfan Posted March 14, 2015 #7 Share Posted March 14, 2015 (edited) I last cruised on the Pearl in 2011 and I ordered a bottle of vodka prior to the cruise. It was expensive but cheaper than individual drinks. I just looked back at the invoice and it was $63.00. It was a 1 liter bottle. To order I emailed: groupeventpearl@ncl.com I'm guessing a similar email address might exist for your ship. don't-use-real-name Posted January 7, 2016 #9 Share Posted January 7, 2016 I believe there have been some changes to the fees and gratuities (and taxes) for the purchase of the Bar Set Up. The $3 handling fee no longer applies and the 15% gratuity is now 18%. And now for the unexpected taxable charge. If you make your order pre-cruise or at anytime prior to the ship sailing from a port that charges local city state taxes then the liquor is taxed. Case in point sailing Miami to Los Angeles (PC cruise) my butler advised me to wait till we were at sea and then he would bring the bottle to my cabin for payment avoiding the Florida Miami taxes. Texas is another state with quirky liquor laws. On a positive note buying the bottle of your choice and measuring the shots in fixing your drink works out mathematically much better than going to a/the bar for the same drink. In most cases the bottle is a full liter instead of a 5th. A 5th was designed for the game of golf with 18 shots (1 per hole) to be poured out and celebrated for better or worse. With the liter (1/5th more) one can pour a stronger drink and be well ahead of NCL bar prices averaging +/- $8. The average Bar Set Up bottle is just over $100 (less grats). Minimum bar drinks (less grats) $8x18=$144 - the liter bottle nets 40 some dollars better - YMMV widely on this application. Looking for a "TOPMAST SPIRITS" card anyone got a recent copy more current than March of 2015 ? Can't find the Bar Set Up - at the NCL site - just gifts chocolates etc. With ordering pre-cruise you pay up front for the beverage - better to wait till on board and pay with any incentive OBC ? With threads like this it is enough to cause one to drink and then have another ! LOL !
