Voyager 2014 makeover question

Recommended Posts

Well done avalon007

Thanks! I would have really liked a solarium canopy though, don't know why they didn't do it.:(

Oh well, we will enjoy the cruise regardless, VOS has had improvements since we last cruised on her & we enjoyed ourselves well enough then.

Plus we got a good price on the latest RCCL sale, the big deal for us was that we could combine the sale deal with both our next cruise open booking & our C&A balcony discount giving us on board credit all up of $550, plus an additional $372 off the sale price!

Most sales they have I usually find I can't use one or another of these in addition to the sale deal, so this was one I couldn't let go.

That OBC will last us the whole 12 days based on our average on board spend. :D

We are currently on voyager and are very happy with meals in the MDR. The first two nights we had to line up but we opted to try my time dining and the longest wait was 30 minutes and they gave us a buzzer and said come back when it buzzes.

Have been to chops and Giovannis ... Very nice meals. The scallops in both venues were awesome!

Chris Brown takes over as the cruise director on 8 December, he got on in Darwin and is an Aussie.

Apart from the delay in boarding in Singapore which was due to the guests partying all night and not waking up and then having to be woken up by the cabin attendants, the cruise has been very good.

Agree with other posts re drink menu with no prices and the old coloured drink booklet is gone .... If you like certain drinks then just ask for them the bar staff are happy to make them for you.

I tried the flowrider..... Lots of fun ... It will be a big hit in oz.

If you have any questions please ask.

I just loved VOS before her make over. Will have to save up to see how nice she is now.

The staff on VOS were loverly.

My son is autistic and I got told off by a security guard at at dock for not controlling my son. Other staff heard this and told him off for me. It's nice to know staff care about passengers (and stick up for mums with Autisic kids)

Our experience was also mixed. Small gripes but likewise easy fixes, like the kids movie channel constantly interrupted by promos for the day spa and casino. Way overcrowded lifts. Seriously annoying. It was definitely understaffed, with lengthy waits for drinks etc. and yes, no prices which is really annoying. Food very hit and miss, with some things inedible, cold, or nothing like the menu listing, but others very nice. Exhorbitant prices for shuttles in my opinion, $25 into Brisbane and that is a big reason so many of stayed onboard I think... The space taken from Windjammer for Choppes means its nearly impossible to find a seat for breakfast or lunch - one morning they even blocked it off and people had to line up! Also completely ran out of plates one morning and cutlery on another occasion. Oh and the ice skating rink didn't open up until after Darwin, apparently it had been used as a carpentry workshop during drydock and that is why it took so long to reform the ice!! Its all well and good to say they will iron put these kinks, I am sure they will, but we didn't travel on discounted rates and so have every right to expect 100% quality. The captain was even quite defensive about it all, talking about perceptions and not listening to rumours etc. So yes we knew there might be the odd unfinished job, but really a lot was below par. I think after a while we just got used to it. What else could we do??

It sounds to me much the same as when VOS first came to Australia, the first cruise or few had issues with staff etc etc.

But by the time we sailed on her all those problems had been resolved.

I think's it the same as many such things in life, never be the first to try something new, buy the first release product, or book a restaurant on opening night! :D

But I agree with Redsgirl that when you are paying full price then you deserve their A game. Just make sure you fill out your feedback form & I would also email RCCL customers service on your return outlining the issues & asking for a next cruise discount!

For us ice skating is a must, we travel with children and the one thing our children want to do is the ice skating, rock climbing and flow rider, not having been able to ice skate would have put a dampener on their holdiday, certainly not acceptable as that is a major feature on the ship.

WE ARE THE CRUISELINGS :)

Definitely a fair point.

Last night everything we saw seemed to be operational and in fine working order, though it was all a bit of a rush!

We watched 3 3D movies in La Scala theatre. We sat on Deck 4 level and found that a good place to watch as the screen was at eye level. Quality of picture was good.

Thanks for the information, sounds like a good plan to sit there. can you please tell me if they have proper glasses or are they the cardboard type. It makes a big difference for my wife as she already wears glasses.:D
