Back to back Canadian itinerary on the Gem?

Anyone ever done the NYC > Quebec City, Quebec City > NYC run back to back?

Can someone chime in and tell us if that is legal?

If the first leg starts in Manhattan and the second leg ends in Manhattan it is no different in the eyes of the Jones act than any other closed loop cruise.

Not true. You're making multiple stops in foreign ports along the way.

I think you are saying the same things as eachother. A round trip cruise starting and ending in the same place is the same as a closed loop cruise. But I don't see how it's any different than taking 2 one way cruises. They could be 2 months apart or 2 hours apart. I don't think it matters. I've looked at this Jones Act now and I see that the only issue is starting in the US and getting off at another US port. So even if you took one cruise to Canada, and then the next day took a cruise from Canada that ended in Boston, I think you'd be fine. Because you didn't take one cruise from one point to another. You took two distinct trips. I'm no lawyer, but I can't imagine they can police you taking multiple cruises.

What's the passenger demographics like?

Port highlights? Weather? Food? I'm looking at the 22-day round trip on the 28th but have never done more than a 7 day, more than 3 times that at once would be practically moving to sea.

I love Gem.. but I'd pick something with covered pool for Canadian itins.

We did several of them.

By the way it's legal. People sail Boston-Montreal-Boston with Holland all the time.
