Safety in Barcelona Park Guell area

Been hearing about hawkers, pick pockets and very aggressive people in the Park Guell area of Barcelona. Is it really safe to go there even with a shore excursion group?

Don't know where you hear that, but that's not the case, Barcelona is, by large, a safe city.

We were at Parc Guell last November and did not experience anything like that. Only thing that I noticed was everyone seemed to be having a good time. Would not hesitate to return there.

We were just there on 11/4 and walked all around the perimeter and explored everywhere. Everyone was just enjoying themselves.

When you walk around any city you should be street smart and that means being observant of your surroundings and you should watch out for pickpockets. In addition, you shouldn't wear much in the way of jewelry and keep other valuable locked up and use a travel wallet.

Barcelona is one of those cities where we have seen and heard about more pickpocketing then many cities. It's not only one but traditionally it is an issue.

So just be careful and minimize what you take with you in the way of valuables and be observant.

We love Barcelona.

Sounds like normal, common sense travel conditions these days. We’re always very careful and aware of our surroundings especially when we’re on vacation. Am so looking forward to visiting Barcelona.

That is what we experienced last month (October 21st). It was a Saturday and probably more crowded than on a weekday but it is well worth the visit. Everyone in our family group of 6 thoroughly enjoyed Barcelona and would visit again in a heartbeat.

OP - If you are thinking of using a tour company (which gets you through the entrance line quickly), I can highly recommend Barcelona Day Tours (https://barcelonadaytours.com/).

We were there last October and did it on our own without a tour group. We took the #24 bus from Placa Catalonia and it drops you off In front of the side entrance where the tours begin. About a 75 foot walk from bus stop to entrance. No walking up the hill from the metro station.

No problems at Parc Guell. Yes, there are hawkers but so what? they are not threatening and were not a bother. Take proper precautions with wallets and purses as you would in any large city. It's absolutely safe.

Recommend a guided tour booked in advance, so that you don't have to wait in line for access to the monumental area. And you get a guided tour with explanation.

If you can't get access to the monumental area, then visiting is just a walk in the park with nice views of the city, but that's not why you go to Parc Guell. Book a tour.
