Interesting cruise.

Its far enough away for Princess Australia (or Carnival) to organise something like this,

for Anzacs and their descendants .

I am sure that if it was promoted they would have no trouble in filling it.

Are you reading this Carnival Australia?

There is also a cruise from Wellington

This special cruise will leave the Port of Wellington just like the first ANZACS to roaring applause and farewells so that it can begin its journey to travel across to Sydney and all the other ports the convoy called into. Retracing the courageous steps of our brave young ANZACS 100 years ago

Yes you are correct, they have a picture of the cruiseship and you can just make out the name of the ship.

Gallipoli 100 year anniversary.

I'll be watching this thread. This sounds like an interesting trip. Am I up to it? I cry buckets at Anzac Day.

Hi Ann & David.

Interesting to see two of our recent fellow cruisers on this thread. Certainly sounds an interesting voyage. May be a combined M101 Diamond CCer's Reunion:eek:

I saw this cruise last week and got quite excited because I have been waiting a long time to hear of MSC sailing out of Australia/New Zealand. I wonder if MSC have any more cruises planned for us.:)

The cruise sounds fantastic, I always wanted to sail through the Suez canal. (I've been under it in a bus through the road tunnel but it's not quite the same).

Hello Margaret,

A reunion cruise of Aussies and New Zealanders to commemorate our ANZACs...I like that.

Regards, Ann

I was thinking that too, but keep in mind this is a charter, which means it can operate differently to a standard cruise. Still unsure what MSC's plans are, and I'd be surprised if they're willing to commit to their own scheduled deployment of that ship that far out.

  • 2 months later...

We looked at this, and nearly booked as we are heading over to there for the 2015 dawn service one way or another, BUT, reading into it more closely, we discovered the ship is anchored of shore for the Dawn service and passengers watch from the 'comfort' of the ship.

Since it is the main purpose of the cruise, its seems strange they are not taking passengers ashore for the main event.

Other than that great itinerary and pretty good price too.

regards

Amanda
