FTTF Line same as VIP

I guess this is no different than flying first class. As an "Elite" or VIP status (frequent flyer), you get automatically upgraded from coach to first class while others paid full price for first class. They can sit in the VIP lounge and get on at the same time as VIP. No big deal.

I can only report on my experience with FTTF in Galveston, there was a similar sign prior to the security check. With FTTF we went through security with the Platinum/Diamond/Suite folks, but were not admitted to the lounge. There was a separate line ouside of the lounge for FTTF. Next week we have a suite, same procedure but we are allowed in the lounge. It's really not that complicated in Galveston!

When I used the FTTF program on the liberty, they had the same sign....

You went though the same line and X-ray machine as Diamonds and platinums, then went upstairs where the person giving zone cards looked at your fun pass and either sent you to VIP (if you are a real VIP) gave you a zone card and sent you to blue or green que (if regular guest) or sent you to a dedicated FTTF line (if you fun pass said FTTF)...at the desk they checked you in, put a FTTF sticker on you sail and sign card, gave you a zone card that said FTTF and had us sit I'm the regular lowly non VIP people.

Here's our sail and sign and embark card (so for the funky cropping...I'm on my iPad), the stick goes on the back of your keyboard...

2f1e2741d6614841159bc8a7cfb529e3.jpg

When they started boarding...they first did weddings....there were two...they went up...after a few minutes of them letting weddings up (I'm 90% sure both weddings went up the right side of the terminal when looking from the entrance towards the checkin desks....) they embarked VIP on the left side....after the weddings cleared up they called FTTF...

FTTF got called like 5 minutes after VIP.

On the ship at guest services, yes the VIPs shared the roped off line with the FTTF people....it seemed like they needed to change the sign for it because it said VIFP Platimus and Diamons and FTTF over it so people (first timers...GASP!!!) went to that line because the new sail and sign cards all say your VIFP number....but the agents were great about checking cards and would send them on their way to the other line.

Baggage was there by the time we got to the room (15 minutes after getting on the ship)....but we were also late embarking because the cruise before us went to Belize and Roatan and their debarkation sucked.

Anytime dining, no one cuts the line....VIP or FTTF....the priority and guaranteed perk means that you will be first choice of time when maitre d assigns tables, not first in line....

Debark we did self debark, but we got zone 1 tags also....

If you guys have further questions, let me know...

I know the VIPs were upset about this program, but it really doesn't effect you, other than maybe having someone in front of you at guest services, but that line always seemed short.

Seems Carnival made a big mistake thinking that changing VIP and adding VIFP and then changing it to PRIORITY would help those be less confuzzled...

They should have left VIP alone and just added the FTTF program separate.. wait what.. that would have made sense!!

Of course California had to make it difficult. :D

Never been there, but isn't their embarkation outside and the VIP area huge?

I've read reviews, but never saw pics

Yes it is huge and is outside... we never had an issue when we sailed from there as we were not Platinum at the time... we just waited on our side;)

Thank you for that! We will be on the Liberty in a couple of weeks with FTTF. Did you have to tell the porters you were FTTF or did they just notice it on your luggage tags?

When you get there look for porters with carts marked FTTF VIP....they were right on the sidewalk and they put straight on the cart and every so often someone would grab and bring to the ship....

That was my biggest worry, too! But as soon as you get there, it was so in your face that it was like, "oh, he's my porter..."

It is also on your luggage tags the porters know what to do;)

So you mean the drama of them letting the FTTF people on that side (with the REAL VIPs) isn't really warranted??

I wonder why people make a big deal about getting on first....I tried the program purely because it was new and liked the idea of it...would I do it again....no.

I liked the fact of priority cabin access and luggage early...loved the guest service line, but usually never use, and forced myself, instead of going in the early am when I used to go, to go when it was busy, just because I could...you know, for research

I think that if you are the type to get to port early (I'm an early riser....and that forces my sister to wake up...not that I ever would rip open the drapes and scream CRUISE DAY and throw pillows at her...) and usually get a zone card under #10 I don't think it's necessary...I don't picture myself ever making the Redfrog first customer dash and don't need to be first on the ship...I just don't want to be in a line down the block and around the building....

So if you are the type that gets bored in your hotel and show up early anyways, you probably don't need this, unless the room access and luggage is worth $50 to you.

I however will be trying the new CHEERS program in 4 days....you know, for research

You must be confusing me with the OP of the picture.. it is not me.. I was stating what happened to me before FTTF and being Platinum you had asked about the VIP area outside which I responded to.. sorry for that:o

The VIP "room" is small.

In Long Beach, you go through security after check in.

I realize in other ports the line splits again for FTTF but in Long Beach it does not. There is one VIP lounge and when Priority is called to board, it includes all parties listed on the sign...I asked one of the CCL staff there handling the embarkation.

And here's exhibit number 1, with photo credit to CruiserDeb.

All being led to PRIORITY. and right into the VIP lounge.

FTTF folks go to the same check-in line as platinum/diamond, but they are NOT escorted into the VIP lounge. Nor do they board with or before them. They board after the weddings, platinum/diamond, etc, and just before they start calling all the zones.

That's how check-in/boarding worked for those with FTTF in our group last month....

But VIP Check in is IN the VIP lounge....Do you mean the same security line?

I have purchased FTTF for our cruise in June leaving out of Miami.....I haven't sailed out of Miami in several years but my question is, when you get to the port and give your luggage to the porters......sometimes there is a line outside the building, to go through security.....do we bypass that line and find the FTTF security line or do we stay in that line until we get INSIDE the building?

The building had two entrances...the left was VIP and FTTF(closer to the buses)...the right side was regular people...

There will be a big sign...I love the port of Miami....this weekend I get to try out Baltimore....I'm already scared  people tell me they don't do zone cards

Bit of advice thought, don't push your way to the front of the VIP line saying that you're not only VIP, but VVVIP, something that I had a guest do at work once...it was hysterical....and then the guests in that line showed him to the end of it....I didn't even have to open my mouth....
