Amsterdam tipping?

I will be on a roundtrip river cruise from Amsterdam.

We will doing a car service and restaurants.

Is tipping like in the US/Canada (where you tip for service, restaurants, taxi) or Britain (maybe round up for taxi, not for restaurant if service charge is included)?

Like in Britain. Round the amount up, and according the service you get. This is also done in Restaurants, even when service is included.

Only tip if you think the rendered service was of a level that justifies a tip.

Americans are known tippers over here so sometimes the incentive or motivation to provide extra or even decent service seems to disappear in a slight air of assumption.. :)
