Using Dublin Public Trans

We just ordered and received our tickets to use public transportation in Dublin. For a set price you can use the Bus or Tram system all over town. Not sure if the buses go to the Cruise Terminals but its a great way to get around town if you are spending more than a day in Dublin.

We are staying at a hotel where the tram has a stop and we can easily get further into downtown and pretty much everyever.

The website is: leapcard.ie

It costs 10Euro fro a day card/person and 19Euro for 3 days.

There are other cards for use getting between and in major Ireland cities also.

Thanks for the info, looks like it can be used for transport from the airport also, so I think we'll preorder them. :)

The LEAP card is accepted on Airlink from the airport. It is NOT accepted on AirCoach. Your eventual destination determines which of the buses you need to take. It is NOT accepted on the Hobo bus. It's still a great deal and convenient.

After reading the leap site, saw there is an App for smartphones and my ipad Called Journey Plan that gives you great directions of to/fm and multiple options. We take the bus to the Heuston Rail Station and do a short walk across a Bridge to our hotel. Great directions and then we’ll use it to find out how to get to places in Dublin!

If you wait until you're at the airport you can get them there, but IME you must ask for the LEAP card by name or they'll hard-sell a higher priced card that includes admission to a few attractions.

Another pointer: Dublin city buses have free WiFi so if your phone plan doesn't include affordable roaming data that's one way to get a quick data fix.
