clcjdn Posted April 5, 2017 #1 Share Posted April 5, 2017 Anyone have recent information on how the NCL CAS theo calculation is working on slots/video poker? I thought I had the math down basically, but still seem to be off. On my last cruise I played about 95% video poker and 5% slots. I put 11,000 points on my card. Points on video poker are $10 coin in, so $110k in action over 7 days. I assumed that they took 5% on video poker, which would put my theo at the $5,000-$5,500 range. When I called my rep, I was told I only had a theo of $3,200. Granted, I did win on this cruise including 3 tax forms for $7k, but I thought that actual win/loss only went into the calculation on the actuals, and did not impact the theo numbers. I even asked if there was a way to make sure the calculation is correct, but was told that the calculation was correct. Anyone have any specific experience or insight into this math? Thanks! Anyone have any specific experience or insight into this math? Thanks! Their Theos calculation is probably correct. 95% payout on video poker is a very short pay. A full pay machine eventually delivers over 99% back with perfect strategy. http://www.oddsshark.com/casino/video-poker
clcjdn Posted April 10, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted April 10, 2017 Yeah these aren't full pay machines. I think 95% when I ran them. Basically the house edge assumes you are a perfect strategy player or in my case better, as this is like 96.8% payback. Sand and Seas Posted April 13, 2017 #5 Share Posted April 13, 2017 I normally play video poker but the odds were so bad and there weren't many machines available on my recent Dawn cruise. Instead, we decided to play mostly slots for fun. Actually played more than I planned as this one particular bank of slots was paying out lots of bonuses. I earned 9086 points and my CAS rep said I had a theo of $5205. My actual loss was $2100, but he could comp me a balcony based on the theo. (Yes, I was playing for another cruise:eek:....instead of taking that money to Vegas to pick up a cruise certificate.)
clcjdn Posted April 14, 2017 Author #6 Share Posted April 14, 2017 I played mainly $0.25 level, I know the lower odds, but I consider price of being able to travel. I play Triple Play, 5 Play, 10 Play and Ultimate X. I would have assumed that the casino calculation would not be based on 100% perfect play based on math, but somewhere a little lower since not many can play at that level. Personally, I am at 98.5-99% perfect play, do you think their system is smart enough to generate a % based on individual accuracy? ellell Posted September 22, 2017 #7 Share Posted September 22, 2017 After speaking to CAS, it my understanding the casino only use a player's loss amount to calculate comps not a true theo. I was hoping, I missed understood and was going to clarify during my next cruise. Could the lower 'Theo' you were quoted actually be a loss statement? This is a older post, hope it still has some interest.
Artemus Posted September 23, 2017 #8 Share Posted September 23, 2017 ADT is one of those mysterious and nebulous resultants that the casino does not reveal to its customers and something that even the casino itself has a hard time getting a grasp onto.
