Maybe it isn't an X-citing deal.

A couple of months ago I started watching the August 18 seven day Caribbean cruise on the Equinox. The price was $799 for a balcony guarantee and the first perk was $50. A couple weeks later it showed up on the x-citing deals list at exactly the same price. A couple of weeks later, on the same list it was $749 but now the perk is $100. Last week it showed up at $699 and guess what the perk is, yes you guessed it $150. To top it off, I just checked and it's down to $649 with, don't peek now, $200 for the first perk. The cool part is if you want to pick your own cabin, that's not unobstructed, the cabin price goes up as does the first perk price. I'd like to hear the logic for this. Probably because the cruises have turned into booze cruises as it seems the drinks seem to be the most discussed topics. The u.k. website showed 160+ balconys still available so they better hope for a lot of Florida residents or people that can drive there as last minute air is cruise price high. I would have been a buyer at $749 with the $50 perk (the $300 obc), now I would be a buyer at $600 with no perks. Not planning on it though. Will probably have to wait for MSC Seaside in September and the Allure in October.

I've been on several Celebrity cruises with the beverage package as a perk and to date, I've not been on one that could be called a 'booze cruise'. Now, I rarely cruise during spring break or summer vacation but even one that was during spring break never had any issues with people that overindulged.

Booze cruise doesn't mean everybody overindulges, it means it is a primary activity on the cruise. Since the drink packages were introduced, we noticed how loud it was in the MDR, it is hard to hear the other people at the table especially when you are at a table for eight or ten. Trying to get passed the Martini Bar to go to the theater, casino, or shops is real chore as the crowd spills out almost all the way to the Atrium. If you try to excuse your way through some people are very nice about it but the are others who don't want to be bothered to let you through.

People talk about others that brag about there status, such as Elite are dwarfed by the people who brag on how they get their "moneys worth" with the packages. It doesn't make a difference where you are, buffet, MDR, or theater you are going to eventually hear about it if you want to or not. We also do RCL and it has never been an issue.

Been on a lot of Celebrity cruises both before and since the Beverage packages and the only time we have a problem getting thru the crowd at the Martini Bar is when they hold Silent Disco at the Martini Bar- then it does get very crowded. We have always found the a MDR to be loud and I think that is to that be expected when you have hundreds of people dining at the same time

Personally, we find Royal Caribbean to be much noisier and bars more crowded that on Celebrity. Last cruise getting from one end of the Promenade to the other was a fight. Seems that a lot of children were allowed to roam (read run, shove, push) the ship on their own.
