How often do shows change? Dawn

I am wondering how often shows change. I am going on the dawn in 6 months and I think that the shows are currently the same as when i went just after the dry dock: band on the run, elements, second city and the acrobats(i forget their names Flur?) Not that it would be an issue, but it would be nice to see something different.

Not very often. A behind the scenes tour once explained that they shows are very expensive to create, and thus are changed after many years.

For reference, most of the large production shows on breakaway are the same as its inaugural season. Iirc it's only the cirque show that has changed, Rock of Ages has been the production show since day 1.

I have been on the Dawn 6 times over the last 6 years. The production shows are usually the same each time. On the 14 night cruises on the dawn they brought on some comedians which were great. I would rather more comedians on the dawn. I hate second city.

I wish they would rotate shows with different ships once per year. This way, if you stick to your home port, you could count on different shows once per year. This shouldn't cost anything extra for ncl, since they can bring all their props to the next ship with them.

On my last cruise (solo, relatively last minute) I ended up being glad that I'd seen the shows before. In a way, it was liberating, as I didn't have to reconcile dining and show schedules, and could eat, spend an hour on my balcony enjoying the fresh air and music/podcasts, head to the casino when people were at the show, go back and enjoy the balcony some more... I didn't really miss it. I intended to check out more of the bar performers but never made it. Maybe next time!

I do agree with others that I would love to see them bring back stand up comedians. I've seen some really good comedians on cruises over the years. The trend, alas, seems to be more and more magic and circus-style acts, and I'm not interested in either.

I like the idea, but the logistics would be bad for productions shows. Between the travel to the different ship, the moving of equipment and the set up, the shows would have to be offline for a couple of weeks while the switch happened.

Why can't they rotate ships home ports more often then? That would be the best.

they are. thats why the Escape is being moved from FL to NY and the Breakaway is moving from NY to NOLA. The Dawn should be next ship to move around homeports i think

I haven't been on NCL since 2009 and it sounds like the shows are still the same since then! I read somewhere that Second City was ending its contract so that may change. I can't imagine what it must be like for the entertainers who have to do these shows over and over again, day after day, week/month and even years. :o
