Freedom of the Sea refurbished 2020

i read that Freedom will be refurbished 2020. In the past when ships are refurbished, do they bring them in another ship to cover the iterinary? Thank you

No, they normally do a dry dock as part of a repositioning, so itineraries will likely be delayed by a month or so.

How long does that process actually take? Does it usually take 4-6 weeks to refurbish?

Depends on what they are doing. Some are done in just over a week some are about 5 weeks. Considering Freedom is getting "amped" expect it to be a 4-5 week drydock"

My notes say Jan 19 to Feb 23, but I've not seen that confirmed lately.

I'm booked on Freedom's 2/23/2020 sailing.

We are on the March 1 & 8 2020 sailings.

A group of 9 of us friends just booked The March 1 2020 sailing also!!!  I'm curious with the addition of Sky Pad, The Perfect Storm, Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade, Sugar Beach, Laser Tag and an Escape room what they're taking out?  The ice rink?

A helpful tip on the upgrades would be to compare the deck plans for Indy and Freedom.

I sailed on Indy about 2-3 weeks after the AMPLIFIED dry dock and although each ship gets tiny differences in upgrades, the two sisters should look almost identical after this upgrade.

The ice rink stays.  The biggest changes are mostly all on the aft of the ship.  The chapel turns into an escape room.  They add the Fish & Ships to the pool deck.  The ON-AIR becomes Playmakers (huge upgrade) and some other things.

Thanks, I didn't realize Indy had been amped. I don't like shorties but I need something for the Spring and always liked the Freedom Class. Might be worth checking out.
