Majesty 10ft of pier and back 3/26

post is time stamped 3:19 for me ... that's WAY before scheduled departure time ......

 

now at 4:47 I see Disney leaving and M at the pier .... which is not unusual .....

 

4:30 to 5 departure is common IME ..... but 3 would be EARLY, IME .....

 

and Marine Traffic says a tug is alongside ...

 

4:55 Disney is clear and M is moving .... all appears normal to me ....

 

WAIT .... M is being pulled out by the tug ..... this is not 'usual' .....

Time stamp is an hour off.

hmmm ....I continued watching and what I saw suggests M is running on one shaft ..... (one of the two propellers for you non sailors)

 

I see prop wash from only one side ..... operating on one shaft would explain the tug assist and escort I now see .....

Correct one screw only, tug assist in Nassau coming and going. Didn't get outside for the Florida arrival.

Passenger +1 with bags went into Ambulance that arrived well after the fire truck was awake, bags went into the ambo as well.

I got some great shots of Disney passing so well worth it from my point of view.

Operating on one screw did not affect the cruise in one bit. I was on a four day so we crawled at 7 or so knots outbound and were able to do 18+ knots on the trip back and arrived on time at all ports.

Other than the first night with slightly rougher seas from a passing low the trip was smooth as glass, the lack of one screw should not have any impact on your cruise.

Who knows why they weren't using two, the ship had just come out of drydock and during the ship tour they deflected the question both on the Bridge and in Engine Contol Room when I asked about it.
