What the weather like now? Anyone from Viking Star on forum?

Forecast shows warm temp (upper 70th) for our Homelands trip but people here saying we need to have warm clothes with us.

What to take? Are cotton sweater and light jacket enough?

The Star has been doing the Midnight Sun/Arctic Circle itinerary for the past month and the people on that itinerary were definitely reporting cold weather and the need for winter wear (much colder, much cloudier and much wetter than what we encountered last summer at the same time). Star returned to the Homelands itinerary only this past Saturday (July 1).

Thank you! I know. They do reverse route and we will meet them in Stockholm. What I want to know is temp now while they are at the northern part of the cruise. This way it would be easier to pack. Right now my guest room looks like after intrusion. The only things I don't have there are winter coats...lol

Yes, cool and wet. Docking in Eidfjord yesterday was not possible due to high winds. Lots of rain as well. Heavy coat necessary out on deck. Today in Stavanger is much warmer and some blue sky. As always the weather is hard to predict .. so be prepared.

Thank you .. just one last FYI. As we sailed

from Stavanger in the sunshine it was

lovely if protected from the wind but cold

aft on the open deck. The wind was really

chilly .. so it is not just the temp but the

affect of the breeze. Bring layers ❄️😀

Thank you very much again. Now I need to through a couple of cashmere sweaters to the pile...and some jeans,...and...lol

I understand that is cold on the deck...so I can stay inside. How about town? It's not that chilly, is it?

What did Viking do about the paid excursions when you couldn't dock in Eidfjord?

Is it cold in town when touring and shopping?

Did you take the cruise to Pulpit Rock? If so, with Viking, Rodne or Norled!?

Refund for Eidfjord to on board account.

I would have preferred refund to credit

card where we paid from, but not a big

issue. Walking tour yesterday was cool

enough to require shirt, sleeveless pullover,

jacket and long trousers (for me anyway).

We started at 8.45am. By mid morning as

it warmed up I could have done without

the sleeveless pullover but I needed the

jacket to keep my arms warm.

Again, it was as much about the

breeze as the air temp.

I believe this is the last question ;)

People who had Homelands cruise on Star in May commented that it was chilly in the public areas of the ship (restaurants, lounges, etc). Is this the case now in July? Do I need a shawl or cardigan?

Thank you again for all your replies!

One's comfort level is so personal--like the three Bears--so, yes, bring something like a shawl or a cardigan. It can always work as an extra layer.

Has anything surprised you or been different than you expected? Where are you now?

Yesterday Rostock. Showers in the morning but sunny and warm after lunch. Had a beer on the balcony in a tee shirt waiting for those who went to Berlin to return. Cloudy this morning on the way to Gdansk. Surprises .. none that come to mind. Everything is either good, great, or perfect .. at least that is our experience so far.
