IHG properties in Fort Lauderdale

I am lucky enough to have accumulated quite a stash of IHG Rewards Club points so when we need a pre-cruise hotel in Fort Lauderdale early next year, it would make sense to choose a hotel from the IHG group - Crowne Plaza, Candlewood, Holiday Inn etc. As this will be our first time in FLL can anyone suggest the best located of those hotels for flying into FLL and then departing from the cruise port the next day. If the hotel has a shuttle then that will be a bonus. As we don’t know FLL at all, it would be nice if it was in an area where we can walk in the evening to get dinner. Thanks in advance.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Ft Lauderdale Cruise-Airport at 1500 SE 17th St. (There are several Holiday inns with similar names in the area.)

It was very basic but clean and in a great location. There was ongoing construction, but that is supposed to be finished this year. They have a free airport shuttle. Call and they pick you up.

The location is walking distance to several restaurants, the water taxi, and a drugstore. They have a paid shuttle to the cruiseport or you can Uber. Budget car rental across the street.

Nothing fancy, but worth the points. The price per night last February was in the $350 range (supply/demand).

Above suggestion is fine. Just be sure you book the Holiday Inn Express Ft Lauderdale Cruise-Airport (1500 SE 17th St) and not the Holiday Inn Express Ft Lauderdale Airport South (205 N Federal Hwy in Dania Beach). You don't want to be walking around at night from the latter.

Another alternative is the Crowne Plaza Ft Lauderdale Airport/Cruiseport (455 E State Rd 84). A quicker ride from the airport and located directly opposite the Midport entrance to Port Everglades (which is the best entrance unless your ship is at Terminal 2 or Terminal 4). A nicer property but not quite as convenient to restaurants and shops as the SE 17 St location.

I don't have time to verify, but just so OP knows, I don't think this one has any pool.

They were adding one this past winter but am not sure it is completed. There is a note on the hotel website:

"A change is coming. We are currently adding 69 new guest rooms, a pool, meeting space, and a three-level parking garage. All renovations are being done outside of the hotel. Our parking garage should be available for long-term parking in May, 2018, and our guest rooms by July, 2018."

If travel is soon and a pool is important, give them a call.

Thank you all sharing your knowledge - it is appreciated. We won’t be at the hotel for long as our flight from the UK doesn’t land till late afternoon so somewhere clean and comfortable to sleep will do just nicely and if there is a shuttle bus and a pool, they are bonuses! Travel is not until April 2019 so all construction work should be long gone.
