Princess Cays Bungalow Review

We had one this past week on Sea Princess. We didn't book it, the couple we were travelling with did. And as much as at first I thought they were nuts to pay $199 for it, it did turn out to be nice. You do get escorted in the first tender off the ship by someone from the tour desk, she walked us over and made sure everything was ok and explained everything pretty well. There were four of us. It's basically a little room that holds a table and four chairs for you to eat lunch. There were some reserved loungers out front and it was very close to a lovely little cove for snorkelling ans swimming. When we first arrived there was a massive fruit tray waiting and four welcome drinks. They take your order for lunch, you don't have to wait in line and they were there with drink service all day long. Not sure if the hut was air conditioned, but the fan was going all day and it certainly did provide cool shelter from the sun. I wouldn't pay $199 for two of us, but it certainly was a nice treat.

If four couples split the tab do all get the perks??? Was ask to me in a roll call... Thanks In Advance

From what I have heard, and what the OP said in their review, it sounds like it is for 4 people, not 8. Four chairs / four lounges seemed pretty plain.

May takes is, I would think it presumptous to expect 8 catered meals, drinks, reserved lounges for the same price. ;) Maybe someone will tell me otherwise.

rotti,

Here's the description from the personalizer:

Beach Bungalows

Enjoy your own private beach bungalow while at Princess Cays. The colorful beachfront bungalows are perfect for families or for those who want to make the most out of their visit to Princess Cays. Located in the picturesque palm grove just behind the beach, each bungalow features air-conditioning and ceiling fan, a table and four chairs inside, two sun loungers outside on the deck and a private shower.

SPECIAL NOTES

There is a maximum of six (6) people allowed per bungalow.

Ummmmm....did you see the shower? From what you said you saw the fan but not the air conditioning. They look cute, but that is alot of money for a few hours on the beach.

The "Shower" would be a tap on the side of the bungalow about 6 feet high. I do believe there was air conditioning, we just didn't turn it on. Totally agree that they're a lot of money. I wouldn't have paid $199.

Cruisediva I guess I should have taken the time and research further but must thank you for your time looking it up. This is what makes this site so worth while is the people who help one another. Split three ways depending on how important your time is to you may still be a value. It is a vacation so why not splurge. Will see what others say as we depart in Feb.

chasetf we both stand corrected..

Cruise Junky you have mail:)

We had the Green (Pineapple) cabana 2 weeks ago and there were 6 of us. It was perfect, a little tight for six when eating but still enjoyable. The air conditioning works well if you keep the french door closed and fan on. I have pic's and should have them up in the next day or two. The bathrooms are a bit of a walk. When talking the Michael (cabana manager) he said that they are planning 6 more cabana's and adding a bathroom especially for the cabana's. They are also planning to somehow fence them off to keep those out that do not have a cabana. We did not feel that it was a real problem with people walking by, the cabana's are a ways down and most people don't walk down that far.

A little tip, we brought our ipod and our Bose Sound Deck and had music playing the whole time. The other cabana people loved the music... Everyone was having a great time. The Mai Tai's were HUGE and good!!!

After reading the latest post I have to aske this.

1) If the washrooms are that far away does that mean the bar and food is the same distance?

2) If I understand correction the occupants of the bungalows get served but curious again on distance vs frequency?:p

3) Washroom closer works but not a necessity;)

4) I hope they don't fence as that would spoil it in my opinion?

5) I cruise to meet people and not to get locked up in a private area.:(

Again I ask as have never had the pleasure of stopping at the Cays due to weather. I can guarantee we will miss it again with my luck

Are your drinks included in the price or do you pay separately for them and Princess is only providing someone to take the drink order? Are the cabanas near the bungalows or spread along the beach?

I didn't see any cabanas near the bungalows. The first drink was included it was Princess's version of Sex on the Beach, oj, peach snapps kind of thing and then they only provided drink service.
