Silly question

Hi everyone!

This is probably a silly question, but I have only cruised one time, on Princess,

and I noticed some people had a lanyard, with their ship id on it.

We are sailing on POA in September (yippeeeee!!!) (sorry about that) and I was wondering where you get them. I assumed people brought their own, but I have noticed on some boards that people mentioned they go and get their lanyard right away.

Thanks!

Kathy (very excited about cruising Hawaii)

We try to be first at the casino when they open.......go straight to the cage.....they will punch hole in your card and give you one.......at least that is how it works on every [6] Carnival Cruise I have been on.

Does RC do this also?

RCCL was selling them in the Logo Shop but lately I have seen only Adventure Ocean ones.

The last time I was at SeaWorld, I found one that works more like a wallet. It has room for acredit card and change. I do not carry my purse with me while on the ship and a lot of the time I do not take it on shore either. So this gives me a way to carry my id along with a credit card and some cash.

You can get them almost anywhere. Many of the office supply stores have them. I've even seen them at the dollar store. I always bring one while I cruise. As someone else stated it's very convenient because many of the things I wear on a cruise ship don't have pockets.

Lanyards are found everywhere! Find a cool one, and it will be a conversation piece!

I bring my own hole punch, and I punch a hole in my sea pass card right after I check in at the terminal! I even get OTHER folks come up to me and ask for their card to be punched, too! Put your lanyard on with your card attached, and you look like a real cruise veteran.....Start making friends right away since you are all on the same ship!!!

[sometimes the Guest Services will do it at the terminal check-in, but sometimes not.]

and like momofmeg says, you can order a CruiseCritic package that comes with a lanyard, fanny pack T-shirt. Check on the "CC Logowear" link at the top of this page.

1ST whoever said, "you don't carry your hotel key around your neck", that is true. But usually if I am staying at a hotel I have my purse or my husband has his walet. On a cruise we carry niether.

So since our sign and sail cards are for everything, I always have in around my neck. I purchase my laynard here at CC. It is much nicer than some because it clips off to hand your card to the bartender or clerk when needed. Then simply clips back on. I don't have pockets in my bathing suit so it is very convienent.

And the pursers desk will always punch it for you.

My husband and I use lanyards from our jump drives. We have about a 1/2 dozen around the house, and then we throw a hole punch in our luggage. This way we don't have to rush to the casino. Our lanyards also have a snap off section, so we can hand off the card with ease to the crew. It works like a charm.
