Need info on removal of balcony partition

We are sailing on the NCL Gem in October in a category BA balcony stateroom. Our neighbor and close friend is in a similar stateroom beside us. Her husband was originally supposed to go on this cruise with us, too, but recently passed away. Since she is going solo in her cabin now, we would like to make her feel as supported and surrounded by friends as possible. I thought maybe we could have the partition removed between our balconies. (She wants this, too, if it is possible.) Has anyone had any experience in this matter as to how to accomplish this successfully? I called our travel agency and they weren't very helpful. Thank you in advance for your advice and assistance.
