Island Tax Increase?

Did anyone get a tax increase on the 31 Oct, Panama Cruise, I was not notified, just happened to go in and check my Invoice and saw $7 and change each $15 and change total taken from my onboard credit. Have never known that to happen in the 10 cruises I have been on. When I phoned and asked I was rudely told to read the fine print that the taxes are subject to change anytime and so I will just have to pay up on the ship.

I did read the fine print but quite honestly that has never happened before. Just wondering if this has happened to you in the past?

yes, and have had it work the other way, too, and we got a refund.

As a matter of fact, now that you mention it, that occurred on our Panama Canal cruise on the Island, too.

Yes, we've been dinged for higher port fees and gotten a refund for lower fees.

Yes Princess changes the taxes all of the time. They also say that they can reinstate the fuel charge if oil goes above 70 per barrell which it just did so that may be the increase. Same as when it went down there were refunds.

Yes, it happens.

 

Anytime an island or a port or city, etc., raise the tax to the cruise line, it's passed on to the passengers.
