Buying Wine in Rome or in Civitavecchia for the cruise?

Where is the best place to buy wine for our cruise leaving from Civitavecchia? We are not looking for vintage wine, but good table wines to bring on board. I would appreciate any suggestions.

We checked out the supermarket at Termini and one near there, and they had some decent wines, but did best when the driver for our private tour to Tivoli (Roberto with driverinrome)took us to a supermarket and helped us choose.

Make certain that your cruise line will allow you to bring wine onbaord before you purchase any.

For those of us traveling on Holland America, be advised their policy is to confiscate any spirits and even beer, but you can bring aboard all the wine and champagne you want.

In general, if you're staying in Rome in advance of your cruise, I'd advise getting your wine there -- plenty of places to find it.

 

In Civitavecchia, some have been lucky enough to find the local wine coop, which is an adventure in itself. If you do a search, I'm sure you'd find info on locating it.
