We booked our cruise through cruises only & it's paid in full..... can I go to the carnival cruise page and find a place to pre-pay our gratuities? I haven't been able to find it.... but maybe I'm missing something..... Thanks all!

Not sure of this, but go to the "Know before you go" page, it may be there.

The gratuity charges will be added to your onboard account.

Go to the Carnival website. Go under my reservation which is located at the bottom of the page to the left. Click on my reservation, then click on manage booking, modifiy booking, and they go to edit dinner time and then click the pre-paid gratituties box. This is how I paid for mine. I added it on after I paid for my cruise, but I also booked my cruise through Carnival.com. I am not sure if you have access to this.

Good Luck,

CJ

this only works if you booked using carnival directly. If you use a travel agent your agent will do it for you.

When you board with prepaid tips it will show up as a debit and credit.

It is usually charged to your sign and sail card when you are on the ship

Yep, the first time you check your sail and sign account via the TV on board, you will find the gratuities have already been charged to your account.

We booked our cruise through Carnival over the phone. After we were paid in full, we decided we should prepay our gratuities. We just called Carnival and added it to our booking over the phone. It already shows up on My Documents.

If you don't book online, you cannot pay online. (At least that is what Carnival told me.) Maybe that is why it won't let you?

You can buy funship doillars that will be placed on your account and they will pay your gratuites.

That's what I thought too but it looks like "Fun Ship Dollars" can not be used to pay gratuities...

...in fine print on the back of the certificate...

7)This certificate may not be used to pay for games of chance and or similar activities. When used as an onboard credit it can not be used to pay for gratuiities. This certificate can not be used and is not applicable for group travel or payments related to group bookings and amenities.

This may be one of those things that is a "rule" but can be bent. I haven't tried to use one for gratuities...just pointing out the fine print.

later at the end of the cruise. On your account on your tv is where you can see the $10 per person per day add up. FYI you can go to pursers desk at anytime and ask them to remove it. You can tip who you want and give them the amounts you want that way.

My experience with the funship dollars were that we were able to use them for tips and even for the casino (Used my sail and sign card then funship dollars were subtracted). I was on the Fantasy in Jan 2009. NO idea if this is always the case.

yes, you can take the tips off your account and give the service people cash instead--BUT by doing this you are doing those people a disservice.

Keeping the tips on your card they get to keep it all. Tipping extra in cash they get to keep it as it is extra.

Paying them in cash with money you took off the card they have to turn it in and have it pooled.
