My first NCL cruise on the Gem. Have a few ?

Hi Everyone!

We are so excited to be cruising on the Gem on 2/27/10.

 

We have cruised many times before. It will be me Dh and 2 DS 15 and 21.

 

We plan to park at the port. Do they have Valet service where you drive up and they park your car for you?

 

Is it still 30.00 per day to park?

 

What time does embarkation usually start for this cruise?

 

Any great must have desserts on board?:p

Many of the answers will vary by port and ship. As to Valet, I have never seen that anywhere. Hmmm? Personally, I would not my keys to be with somebody else for a week anyways.

 

As much as I like NCL (have two more cruises booked), great deserts are not one thing I think about with NCL. And, that is probably a good thing with as much as we eat and drink all week anyways.

Any great must have desserts on board?:p plenty I almost never have room for desert.

I have never seen valet parking for a cruise, but it makes sense. I didn't know they hit $30 per day for parking, whew!! If you were in Florida with a handicap pass the parking would be free.

No valet service that I have seen.

 

Yes, still $30 per night.

 

Embarkation depends entirely on whether the previous sailing returned on time and whether the ship clears customs and immigration in a timely manner. If all goes well, they usually start embarkation around 11:30 or so.

 

I enjoy the chocolate fondue in Le Bistro and the warm banana pancakes topped with coconut ice cream is excellent in the Orchid Garden Asian restaurant.

I also love the chocolate fondue in Le Bistro. The poundcake, and cheesecake in the Blue Lagoon is also very good.....and free. There were a couple different bread puddings in the Buffet that were quite yummy....there is also a crepe station in the evenings at the buffet with a few types of toppings/fillings.

 

Now I'm making myself hungry.......:)

 

Don't forget about the Chocoholic Buffet.........:eek::):eek:

I love the milk chocolate mousse in the Grand Pacific. I think it is mostly just served for lunch.
