cayman vs ship time

I'll be on the conquest in May and am trying to book some private excursions. I know that GC does not switch to Daylight savings . Does the Conquest stay on CST in May? Will there be a time difference?

The ship will stay on whatever the time is, for the port of embarkation, for the entire cruise. This is normally the rule, with a very few exceptions.

So.... when we change to daylight savings and go ahead 1 hour we will be on the same time as Grand Cayman? Texas is CST one hour earlier than EST right now!

The Conquest switches time in the winter when the USA is on standard time. In the summer the Conquest doesn't switch time as it is unnecessary. For your cruise in May the time in all three ports is the same as the time in Galveston.

 

Galveston central time zone, observes daylight saving time

MoBay eastern time zone does not observe daylight saving time

Grand Cayman eastern time zone does not observe daylight saving time

Cozumel central time zone, observes daylight saving time

 

The only weeks of the year where port time doesn't match ship time are in Cozumel during the handful of sailing between when the USA changes time in March and November and when Mexico changes time in April and October. These changes do not effect your sailing.

I really don't think you need to worry about this too much anyway, as, trust me,,those folks who run the private excursions, know what time it is aboard the ship. They'd better,,,or they might not get you back on board before the ship sails! :eek: I think if you arrange to meet your tour guide at the end of the pier at 9 A.M.,,,he'll be there at 9 A.M., ships time.

We were there in jan and were told to keep ship time not to change our watches and to be back on teh boat by 5:30 ship time. So i would say stay on ship time.

You must have sailed on Voyager of the Seas which doesn't change ship time in winter.

The private excursion time is 9:00 AM and since we tender and the arrival time listed is 9:00 I was not sure we could make it.

Returned on the CONQUEST 2/7/10 and in the Caymans Chris, the CD, reminded us to keep our watch on SHIP'S TIME... which would be an hour off Caymans' time... Don't look at a local clock... keep time on your watch...

When in doubt, check with Guest Services (purser) to make sure what the "ship time" is.

 

There is usually an announcement when the ship changes times, but just in case you missed it.........

Actually I can't wait until we get on because I am trying to book a private excursion and want to be sure I can make it off the ship in time.
