compozer Posted March 3, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 3, 2010 Does everyone get an onboard credit from their TA? And if so, do they tell you or is it a surprise when you arrive at the ship. We are getting a $100 one each because of the Future cruise credit. Just wondering if there is a chance we may have a surprise waiting for us. Do you ever get two? Toto2Kansas Posted March 3, 2010 #2 Share Posted March 3, 2010 No, not everyone gets OBC from their TA, many times it depends on if the TA has a group booking on that sailing. We have always been told up front if the TA is supplying any shipboard credit when we make the booking. I can't ever remember just getting it as a surprise. ;)
paul929207 Posted March 3, 2010 #3 Share Posted March 3, 2010 No, many TA's do not give OBC. I would think they would tell you up front if you were getting one.

TomCruises Posted March 4, 2010 #5 Share Posted March 4, 2010 They may leave a bottle of wine or champagne for you in your stateroom as a token of appreciation for the business.
Rare sunluva7 Posted March 4, 2010 #6 Share Posted March 4, 2010 We received a gift basket on our first cruise in '02, when we booked through a local TA and didn't know about OBC. Now we book through a web TA and have always gotten OBC. They can also be combined with any you might get as a promotion from the cruise line.:D
kywildcatfanone Posted March 4, 2010 #7 Share Posted March 4, 2010 When we have gotten OBC from our TA, we knew about it (and asked about it) at the time of booking. Mike
DrivesLikeMario Posted March 4, 2010 #8 Share Posted March 4, 2010 It depends on the TA, but usually they won't give you an OBC unless they have a group booked and have 'bought' the OBCs with their GAP points. In that case, the TA will usually tell you what the perks are for booking within their group. For many sailings, it's $75 OBC and a bottle of wine, but it really depends on the sail date, ship, length of cruise, etc.
compozer Posted March 4, 2010 Author #9 Share Posted March 4, 2010 The reason I ask is because our last cruise was our first with Princess and we didn't realize until we went to pay our bill that we each had a $50 credit. Our TA never mentioned it. It was a nice surprise. We don't have the same TA this time.
