Any idea when GTY cabins will be assigned?

We sail in 21 days on the CB. I linked 2 cabin reservations together. I'm wondering when we will be assigned our cabins. I've never sailed with Princess before..just HAL,Carnival, and RCCL. I usually was assigned before a month out. Anyone familiar with Princess and the usual way they assign cabins? Thanks to anyone who can comment.

Anytime between now and when you actually board the ship, there is no way of telling. Keep in mind, that booking two guarantees, even with linking the bookings, could still mean staterooms assigned on different decks or different ends of the ship though. I hope you realized that when booking?

Jeez! that is cheerful!:)

There is no possible way of knowing which cabins youwill be assigned or when (although you will find out at the latest when you check in. They may be close together or they may not depending on what is available when the cabins get allocated. On the Crown last year we ended up right next door to our friends when we both booked gty and linked the reservations. Two years ago we were allocated one balcony on D midships near the elevator and one inside on P almost at the stern.

Thanks, Paul! It's all part of the anticipation for me. Once on HAL we were escorted to our cabin, and thought we surely had been upgraded. It was actually an inside on the Riviera deck of the Maasdam. Such a great cabin. We had a wonderful time. After 12 cruises, I still am in awe of these great ships and the wonderful places where we wake up each morning.

I'm doing my first cruise in June with a "guaranteed" cabin, and got my cabin assignment less than a week after booking the cruise. It may depend on the category you booked . . . and, of course, the fact that you've booked two cabins. Good luck, and have a wonderful time!

Too cute that my other post is about the craps table! If I wasn't willing to do a lot of walking, or worried for the safety and comfort of my traveling companions, I would book a definite cabin. I love the chance; even at the pier of a wonderful surprise. I will still be happy if I get the owners suite:rolleyes: and my daughter gets the inside over the medical center(or whatever).

Ha Ha ! That actually happened on our last cruise! My daughter and her friend were upgraded to an aft balcony on the Legend. I was thrilled for her. We called Carnival and were offered an upsell to a balcony. My poor husband does not get all this info past the initial booking. He doesn't know all the sheninagans that go on.

We're booked on B2B's on the Caribbean P- for some reason Princess does offer this as a 14 day ( maybe since the second leg is a repo ). We have gty's booked on both and the bookings are linked. One would assume that Princess may try to put us in the same cabin for both weeks and that an upgrade is highly unlikely.

Anyone have any experience with this

Since you are booked as a B2B and not a 14 day then the GTY is the usual luck of the draw and you may or may not find you have the same cabin for each leg. I have been lucky once and unlucky twice.

I've actually tried to 'kill your bug', I reallly don't care if we get an upgrade, just happy-great rate- great itineraries- with the love of my life- it's been too long!

OK.. 19 days till we cruise! Why are they waiting to assign a cabin? Any thoughts?

It does happen, and some don't find out until they board the ship which cabin they have been assigned. Sorry, there is no explanation that I know of why you have no assignement yet. It just happens sometimes. Good Luck!

We booked 2 gty rooms on the Star - April 3, last week. I paid about 10pm and we had our room assignments by lunch the next day. Paid for M rooms, got moved up to I rooms on the Baja deck. Rooms are beside each other. I thought we wouldn't get rooms until we got to the port. I guess we lucked out.

a possibility is........they have overbooked the cruise........and are currently negotiating with other passengers to give up their cabins........and until cabins are surrendered (for compensation)......they will not know which cabins are available.......;)
