2xprincess Posted May 3, 2010 #1 Share Posted May 3, 2010 We will be in San Juan for two nights after our cruise and need help deciding on a hotel. We are a family of four....with a 12 and 8 year old. We are considering the Caribe Hilton, El San Juan Hotel & Casino or El Conquistador Resort. Any opinions? Thanks el conquistador is 1.3 hr from san juan, it is a huge resort. caribe hilton and hotel sj are located in the capital city and are beach front hotels, one of them located in condado and the other one in isla verde. r&rlovescruising Posted May 4, 2010 #7 Share Posted May 4, 2010 We just returned from 4 nights at Caribe Hilton after our cruise. It was really nice and has beautiful grounds. Hilton has alot of activities right on the grounds. It is away from the other tourist hotels and out on its own but for us it was perfect. We stayed in the Garden wing which overlooked the tropical gardens. The rooms were lovely and looked like they had been renovated. Big enough for four people. The food in the resort is expensive but there is a Subway sandwich shop close and we ordered delivery from Mike's Pizza and it had wonderful Pasta, Pizza and sandwiches for a reasonable price. I'm sure there are other places that deliver too. There is a local bus for .75 that will take you to Old San Juan or Condado area. You can also walk which we did one day but it gets a little hot. We've would definitely stay here again. Have a wonderful time! :D

2xprincess Posted May 5, 2010 Author #9 Share Posted May 5, 2010 Are both the El San Juan and the Caribe Hilton in Isla Verde?
gonzo1124 Posted May 5, 2010 #10 Share Posted May 5, 2010 No, the Caribe Hilton is near El Condado area at the entrance to Old San Juan. If it was me, I would stay at the Caribe Hilton. Very nice "private" beach, very nice location, great hotel.
dcikon2 Posted May 5, 2010 #11 Share Posted May 5, 2010 Personally, I like the beach in Isla Verde over the other beaches in the San Juan area. I didn't realize this until visiting both Condado, Ocean Park, and Isla Verde beaches. ESJ has a great casino and lively at night.
Donna - dsw Posted May 10, 2010 #12 Share Posted May 10, 2010 Sailing on RCCL out of Pan Am Pier - what hotel do you suggest for this area? If not this area - cost of cab to pier? Thank you!
Rare mexicobob Posted May 16, 2010 #13 Share Posted May 16, 2010 We stayed at El Convento in Old San Juan before our cruise. Place is about 400 years old and is 5 star. Excellent restaurant as well. Interesting to stay in a room that was a convent for centuries. Paintings in the lobby date back to the 1600's. Expensive but worth it. Experience you will always remember. Jan_In_Maine Posted May 16, 2010 #14 Share Posted May 16, 2010 We also have stayed at El Convento. I would love to go back there again, we were only there for one night, think I'd do two nights if we had the opportunity. We had a corner room with a hugh patio (it looked over buildings, but we could see the ocean from one spot. Jan
