Hi Debbie

Sorry to hear that Cinzia isn't doing the trip. Who will your companion be now?

Maybe we can all meet in the Bar for a pre-dinner drink, say 7pm on 6 November (our first night). Would that suit u, flag fan & irishteddybear?

Cheers

Jennifer

Now that this cruise is paid in full, it seems more real.

Irishteddybear, maybe we have seen your uncle before.

My companion has now changed. Cinzia sadly cannot come,.

Last time we were in Barbados, we spent a day at Sandy Lane. I'd love to do that again, but we did spend some $$$ there last time.

Hi Debbie.

Yes indeed it does feel real, getting close now.:-)

I am sorry that your companion Cinzia can not join you on the cruise, glad you found a replacement.

You might know my uncle, he was also on the Sprit maiden, he is very bent over and uses a cane, and wares an Arsenal football badge on his blazer along with his VS pin. LOL, on that maiden crossing he was with his cruise partner of many years, a Judge, they played bridge everyday, unfortunately, and very sadly the Judge passed away a few week after that curise in mid Febuary.

I see you mentioned in a earlier post about hitting a casino, I would be in for joining in on that, if it is ok with you, I would also love to see Sandy Lane, have been to many of the Islands, but never Barbados.

My husband, Todd is going. He does not want to do much sightseeing since we have been to all of these places except Dominica. He loves the ship.

We will do something, probably the aerial tram in Dominica.

I imagine the casino is fine. He will either come there, go golf or do what he likes - sit in the cabin, look at the ocean and watch movies! He never has time to do nothing at home. I arranged the taxi with the ship concierge last time. They had limited hours before, and I spent a lot of time on Marriott's beach in the wind, wishing I had brought a bottle of wine and a picnic.

We were on the maiden voyage from Barcelona to Lisbon but got off before the crossing. We often see the same people on various cruises, especially trivia players.

I don't know if Sandy Lane is in my budget. I love the spa over there and had the best facial I have ever had. Will see on that. I haven't done much else in Barbados besides Sandy Lane other than walk or drive around. Will decide later on.

Regarding a drink the first night, we won't get on the ship till 3 or 4 and then we have the drill. We'll see on that or maybe the 2nd night. I can send you a pic so you can recognize me if people have not seen our pics.

IRISHTEDDYBEAR -- Yes indeed. I know your uncle and the Judge quite well. I was on the maiden TA Spirit crossing and once again ran into those two fine gentlemen.

Two or three years ago, in the Caribbean, my friend Winnie and I picked up these two "gents" for dinner after meeting them that afternoon at trivia. We spent several dinners together -- fascinating people -- and ran into them twice again, last time this past January. I am saddened to learn of the death of the Judge. Please tell your dear uncle hello from Winnie and Mary Ann -- the two Dames at Sea -- who only pick up the most interesting and charming gentlemen.

Thank you, I will pass on your kind regards, when I am speaking to him on Thursday next, I am down in Rio at the moment, spoke with him today, but had not seen your message.

For November in the Caribbean, (one of the three Spirit voyages to similar islands), what kind of weather and clothing should people wear ashore? For example, just shirt for men and T-shirt for ladies? Would regular walking shoes do?

By the way, one poster claims there is a $500 per cabin credit for the Nov 13 voyage, does this apply to your early November and the late November (Thanksgiving) voyages as well? Any web link to such information? Thank you.

None of the 7 day circles have it.

The voyages that have it are:

November 2 voyage 1032

November 13 voyage 5038

November 17 voyage 1033

December 2 voyage 5040

December 4 voyage 1034

December 11 voyage 5041

All have free air and transfers from select cities. Their prices are always subject to change.

I do not see the note I wrote a week or two ago about what to wear. Off the ship, Todd wears typically a golf shirt and slacks or golf shorts and deck shoes or casual (non-tennis shoes). We do see more t-shirts these days, and he has even worn a few dark ones to trivia (in spite of my objections). Maybe cap for sun, and PLEASE wear sunglasses.

While even the new website continues to state that our cruise will have two formal nights, the docs we received indicate one. Our experience in the past has been that 7 day Caribbean cruises typically have 1 formal night only.

Thanks for the information. Does the Caribbean FEEL hot and humid or somewhat like Hawaii in weather?

This cruise is getting close:)

Is anyone else joining me, DebbieH103, flag fan & irishteddybear?

Cheers

Jennifer

I hadn't noticed that only four people had been posting on this thread (and now beckaboo). It looks like we'll have plenty of room on board.

The weather has just turned chilly in Washington, where I live, so I am getting pretty excited about a nice warm Caribbean cruise. Fortunately, my travel agent just e-mailed me that my tickets were in and she would be sending them--along with the silver box!

Silversea will be a new experience for me and the more I read the better it sounds.

Second day, which I assume is first trivia day, we will do our best to be there. We often see people we have seen before on SS. We love a mixed table from all over the world. We love to win but are not rabid about it. Mainly, we love to learn our shortcomings on what we ought to know. We aren't as well versed as we were since Sploofus shut down and we don't do trivia daily (for a couple of months now).

We are Todd and Debbie Hoffren, we don't mind telling, and we don't do much, but we are around for any golf putting and trivia and always eat (lol). I try to never miss a show.

We are currently split on the Dominica with Todd on accessible and me on aerial. However, he did the "bubble" gondolas at Bastille-Grenoble a couple of days ago, so I know he could likely handle the tram.
