Did they have any no smoking nights in the casino?

###

I was on the Serenade two weeks ago and they had at least 2 nights that were smoke free in the casino.

We had a great time on the cruise and really enjoyed the ship and all the crew.

No life preserver needed! Leave it in the room. Muster took about 15 minutes or so.

That's great, I've spent 30 minutes wearing the darn things in the Miami heat. I have to imagine its worse in San Juan in many times.

Thanks for taking the time to replying to my questions, they are helpful. Also, thanks for including the "must-see" show ( I meant to ask that too).

I am sure I will be back with more..

Did you have any experience with My Time Dining?

We were on the Serenade last year and loved it! We'll be on it again in less than a month!

We have always done late dinner but are considering MTD this time around.

What did you do in Antigua?

Thanks for the info,

Nicole

We did the late seating so I can't help with the MTD question. In Antigua we took a taxi to Runaway beach. It costs 6 dollars per person and you paid after pick up. It was a really nice beach. The water was so beautiful. They had a lot of things to do there also. They had 3 or 4 jet skis to rent, they did tubing, and water skiing. The people are real nice too, a little pushy but not bad. They had a really cool bar too. The bar stools were swings. When i get my pictures on the computer I will post a picture of the bar.

Hi,

We tried My Time Dining for the first time on our recent cruise on Serenade of the Seas on the April 17, 2010 sailing. They used a section of the dining room on the top floor. Service and food were great and I will choose My Time Dining for future cruises. We made reservations online before the cruise. We were able to get times that we requested and never had to wait to be seated. The maitre de and waiter were very accommodating. We had a party of 12 and had to reserve two tables of six online since the largest table size is 10. As soon as I got onboard, I visited the dining room and talked to the maitre de to make sure that we could get two tables of six beside each other and he walked around the dining room and pointed out two tables that we could have. We were told that they could put on a "table topper" and turn the two smaller tables into a large table for 12, so we were very happy. We usually eat at first traditional seating, since the second seating is too late for us. It was great not to have to rush to be ready for first seating. Let me know if you have any questions about My Time Dining on Serenade.

Did they had a latin band onboard

Every evening they had a different type of entertainment in the atrium. I know one night they had a latin band and many people were dancing to salsa music. The entertainment was very good- in the atrium at least- I didn't go to any of the shows.

Is the bar "Miller's by the Sea" ?

For the dress code, are jeans permitted on casual evenings?

I don't know as I have never brought jeans on a cruise. You are going to the Southern Caribbean, why in the world would you want to wear jeans?

We are sailing in August, my question is we would like to book the specialty restaurants for 2 of the nights, which 2 nights would you suggest? We like when things are going on in the dining room, so do you remember which nights there was nothing going on?? Thank you!

I don't remember which nights had things going on for sure. The formal nights for sure but it seemed like there was something going on every night. We ate at chops the first night so I can't help with that night. I would think the first and third night would be your best bet. The second day and second to last will be your formal nights. I always like to be there on the last night also to hand out tips and get some pics of the wait staff. Just my opinion though.

My husband are sailing on 8/29 on the Serenade, we haven't been on a cruise since 1998, we have the any time dinner seating. Did you have a scheduled dinner time or did you do anythime seating and if you did, how was it? Also, did you do advance reservations for Chops or is it easy to get a reservation once you are on the ship?

We had late seating but from talking to people they seemed to like ATD. We walked right up to Chops the first night and got in. There were only two others tables occupied. We went a little late though, I think around 9:15 or so.

Thanks for the feedback on the jeans...Coming from Canada for the December 23 trip..so we will be leaving in cold weather and we will have them with us....just wanted to know in case the kids wanted to walk around the ship in the evening with them on..

You are right about being in the Southern Caribbean won't be needing them off the ship! Looking forward to that!

We too left when it was cold at home. Jeans can look nice if you wear them right IMO.

For MTD, how did you know what time to book? I don't want to miss the shows, so I'm a little confused as to what time to pick. We usually dine at the late seating and we are a party of 9, but we think this year it would be nice to dine at about 7 or 7:30. Any help would be appreciated.

We are also sailing in August and I would love to know this too :) If it is a Sunday to Sunday sailing are the formal nights Monday and Friday? We would like to book Portofino's and also maybe Chops as well so I would be interested to know which menus are for which nights!

If the shows for the late seating are prior to dinner, are there any other shows or things to do after dinner as well?

Not all the shows will be before dinner if you have late seating. Some shows are only once, and they have them later (10:30) so both groups can attend. They also have the clubs open later, Quest starts around 11:00, and there are other forms of entertainment throughout the ship at night.
