Infinity Schedule Changed For 2005

Okay I just got the call from my TA . Next years Infinity Panama Canal Trip has just been released (no more red flag). So those of you on this May 1 2005 trip it is now open again. They have added an extra day to the trip and probably an extra port to the schedule. At least that is the word given to my TA. So to answer the previous question about how do you know it is red flagged. Your TA should find out first unless you look it up and it disappears off the schedule then you know something is wrong. Anyway now we can go on with our plans. Lynnobie beings were both on this trip and from So Cal lets keep this thread going and then we can do a roll call later on. Okay? Nancy & Dan -- thank you for your reply, I appreciate it. I booked directly with Celebrity, so any questions I have I'll probably direct to the Captains Club rep.

I'm glad to the Panama Canal was released. Congratulations!

Cruiser Dan,
My wife got a similar call from our TA today who also advised the cruise is now 15 days. The TA said that was the only difference but when I got their e-mail confirmation, it shows the extra port you mentioned for May 10 in Huatulco, MX instead of the previously scheduled "At Sea". It also shows 2 days at sea between Cabo and San Diego instead of the original 1 day. When I heard that it was now a day longer, I suspected we might be ending in San Francisco, also knowing the Infinity is scheduled out of SF on 5/16. The cruise is still not showing up for booking on the Celebrity site however, when I go to their page for booking shore excursions and enter our confirmation #, etc., it does show 15 days ending in San Francisco. Looks like we may be ending up in San Francisco now instead of San Diego. OK on your suggestion to keep this going. Carol, We feel the same way. Frank and I sailed on the Infinity last May to Vancouver from Hawaii. We won't be packing a lot of shorts and teeshirts for this one. We have some idea what the weather will be as far as Victoria. I am really looking forward to that stop. Would have gone last year but it would have just take too much time away from Vancouver. Michele and Mike are really excited about this one! are Bob Sr. & Darlas planning on going?

Hi Nancy,
We haven't even told Bob and Darlas, yet that we booked this cruise. They said they would never book another cruise so far ahead. It's too much pressure worrying about anything that could go wrong before the cruise. So, I don't know if they'll be travelling with us or not.
Bob and I are planning to arrive in San Francisco on Saturday before the cruise. We lived there for a few years back in the early 80's and we haven't been back since then. We are really looking forward to that. I just hope nothing happens to this cruise.

CANCELLED!!!!!!!!

Got the message yesterday our Celebrity that our May 25 cruise has been cancelled!! Since we booked directly through the Captain’s Club, our call was from X themselves! Now I have to find a way of breaking the news to our friends without tipping our hat that we are going with them. We’re going to rebook for the May 28 sailing out of San Francisco to Alaska and hope that they will do the same! I’m going to start a new thread for this sailing since I don’t think there’s another one over on the Roll Call Board yet.

Thumbs down on Celeb Infinity until they solve the thruster problem for good. They recently dropped a port (Ecuador) on us. They knew about it long before we boarded but the corporate wisdom decided we didnt need to know.

Cruiser Dan,
We would prefer ending in San Diego instead of San Francisco so not sure if that will become a deal breaker or not. Celebrity says they are offering no compensation for change in arrival port. I guess at this point we are keeping our options open.

I have read almost all of the different cruiseline boards. People on celebrity feel it's a great cruise line(I also liked the Century).
Seems to me the only thing Celebrity is great at is screwing their customers. You don t read about these things happening on any other line. I'd hate to book a trip, than have to worry about it being canceled(seems lately you do have to worry).
Hope everything goes according to plan for all you guys.

I see that Celebrity is once again showing the April - May Infinity schedule for bookings. Still a corner FV available on our 5/1/05 Transcanal 15 night cruise from Ft. Lauderdale to San Francisco as of now.

To ROCK THE BOAT - Last year the Infinity had a problem going thru the Panama Canal and our cruise back thru was cancelled. However I don't feel that we were screwed at all. We received a back to back cruise on the Navigator of the Seas (it was not Celebrity but) in a Suite mind you and a full refund. We also received $200.00 because we had to change our airline tickets at the last minute. Maybe Celebrity not as bad as you think!

Clopaw, I saw your post that you have 6135 and 6136 reserved on the 5/16/05 Infinity. I have 6135 confirmed, so did you cancel or is this another Celebrity oops?

I was also thinking the down time may be to upgrade these to CC, since 5/16/05 is the first expanded CC sailing.

The changes are really bad for us also. We have the Penthouse and adjoining sky suite booked on the April 17 Canal sailing. It was to be the "trip of a lifetime" for my aunt and uncle.

Now, although the sailing is rescheduled, it is leaving from Ensenada, Mexico instead of San Diego. My uncle uses medical oxygen and the company won't deliver outside the U.S.

We are looking at alternative dates that still start and end in the U.S., but can't get the PH and adjoining SS. BUMMER!

To sueclark, I believe the ship still docks in San Diego at the end of the cruise before Ensenada. You probably can check with the cruise line for assistance. If you booked a Penthouse and a Sky Suite, Celebrity won't want to lose you.

I believe the cruise before ours comes in from Hawaii, hence the need for the foreign port.

I just can't believe they would provision the ship in Ensenada when San Diego is only an hour away.

I've written my contact at Celebrity HQ to see what they can do to help.

I have good news! I emailed Celebrity HQ last night and had a response this morning. The ship will stop in San Diego for a short time and they will arrange to load the oxygen for us.

Once again, Celebrity has come through for us.

sueclark:
That is great news. We are on the same cruise.

I know that Celebrity is very accomadating. My sister-in-law was in a wheel chair on our Hawaii cruise, and they were wonderful.
