Hang on a minute it was a genuine question so don't get all chippy !

Jeez one of the reasons I am changing lines is to avoid cocky people like you.

Bye! :) I'm sure we will miss you (not). NCL is great and so are most of the posters.

Protecting against Norovirus is really a personal issue. The crew can keep an immaculate ship, but all you need is one infected person who doesn't wash their hands to pass along their virus to scores of other people.

The cruise line will often serve guests at buffets so that passengers are not handling the same utensils -- this is an excellent idea.

But do you take hold of the handrail when using the stairs? How many others have done the same thing? Think of all the things you touch on board. All that you can do is wash your hands thoroughly and frequently, and use hand sanitizer when it's more practical.

OP - you have nothing to worry about. I have never heard of anyone starving on a cruise before! You can most definitely get food after 9:30pm (not even sure where you heard that one from!) Room service has a wide variety to choose from, not to mention, Blue Lagoon.

As for NORO, could happen on any line.

When I booked my first NCL cruise back in 2008, people told me that NCL was horrible, and I should cancel right away...blah blah blah. Went anyways, had a blast, and have more booked.

I think its best to go and experience for yourself! :D

We are going on our first NCL cruise in August and we can't wait to try out a new line! It wouldn't matter to us if all the reviews were bad. We will determine for ourselves if we like it or not. I think it would be very hard for us to say we will never sail a particular line for whatever reason. We like things and don't like things from all the lines we have cruised so far and I know we will love things about NCL and there will be things we don't care for as much

It's a cruise so how bad can it be? We tend to not have too high expectations and we go with the flow. It's all about the fun.

Have a great cruise and just see for yourself, don't listen to the nay sayers!

I have to say I feel the OP asked legit questions. I don't feel the OP meant that everything they read was negative, but they had read enough that it caused panic. I do also believe that if the OP were to look at all cruiselines boards or reviews, they would find very simular issues.

OP, I do have to say that with our NCL cruises we have not found the issues you stated to be the case. Quite the opposite in fact. Don't let folks that have nothing good to say ruin your cruise before it even began. As others have said.. the best rule of thumb for these boards is if a review or posting is all positive or all negative, skip it and go to the next one, because something isn't right. If someone can't say something positive about a cruise, that says more about them than it will ever say about the cruiseline.

I don't think it is unknown that we have a great affection for NCL, but I agree with you 100% as far as all cruiselines have their issues. Heck, I will even say all cruise ships have their issues. For us, the issues NCL has overall just aren't enough to get us to change cruiselines. For us, RCCL and NCL are as close to perfect as you can get, but I do not think anyone will ever find perfection anytime so many different personalities are involved. I HATED Carnival, but there were three factors that caused me to feel that way and none of them really were Carnivals fault. We were in the middle of a hurricane, I broke my foot in their casino, and on our cruise it was just a bunch of young drunk obnixious folks. With that said, any vacation with Doug is a good one and I would still probably try Carnival again for the right price and cruise.

I agree with Terry. Is NCL perfect, no, but nothing in life is perfect. D.H. and I just returned from a week on the Star and found the ship to be very clean, even in the public restrooms, food to be plentiful and we never waited for a table. We were ever thankful that we were well enough to take the trip; DH suffered a brain aneurysm two years ago and fully recovered. We now appreciate and are thankful for each day we are alive and well! Go and enjoy your cruise.
