  1. I'm on the Discovery, Ca Coastal April 17th. I'm hoping it's ready in time but if not, I booked a "backup" cruise on the Majestic, Ca Coastal April 9th. 😀
  2. I'm completely new to the Royal class ships and a little confused. I have a cruise booked on Discovery & Majestic next April, one is a Cat D4 on Discovery cabin D730 and the other is a Cat BD on Majestic cabin D707. Can anyone please tell me if these are covered or partial or no coverage? I only booked the Majestic cruise as a back up just in case the Discovery isn't finished in time, but my brother isn't going to be thrilled with the regular balcony, he loves the aft balconies so I might be just be cruising solo if Discovery isn't ready. Thanks for any info, much appreciated.
  3. So, I just booked Discovery on a California Coastal for April 17, 2022 for my brother and I! We've had our last three cruises canceled and I'm fully prepared the ship might not be ready in time and will get cancelled but I'm going to hold out hope. Got an aft balcony, D730 because I love watching the wake. By the time this sails, it'll be 3 years since my last cruise, gonna be so great to be on a ship again.
  4. Better to have them than not and wishing you brought them. They don't take up that much space.
  5. My last cruise was with my dad, a15 day Emerald Princess roundtrip from LA to Hawaii in February 2019. We had another cruise booked for October that year but unfortunately, he lost his battle with lung cancer that same month. I'm so grateful I had that time with him, we had a blast. My family booked an In Honor of him cruise April 2020 but that never happened due to Covid. Now I'm just waiting to rebook the In Honor of my dad cruise until all of this is over.
  6. Not to mention paying probably premium for that experience. No thank you, I'm gladly waiting.
  7. You took the words right outta my mouth.
  8. Except that it's not up to the cruise lines. They need to follow guidelines in order to keep sailing. Otherwise, they would have started cruises already.
  9. This is exactly how I feel too. I realize I may never step foot on a ship again but if I can't cruise the way it used to be, then so be it. Like you said, so many other types of vacations out there. ETA: I think the ones that are ready to get on a ship now, can't really imagine what it will be like with the new restrictions in place. They're just remembering what their cruises were like and want to go now. Just a thought.....
  10. I agree with you both on the consequences, however how realistic will it be for staff to enforce it? I don't have the answer but I guarantee, we will be hearing stories when cruising resumes.
  11. You touched on what I've been thinking all along. Once people are on board, they will push the mask wearing to the limit. After dining, taking time to put it back on, walking down the cabin hallways, people getting belligerent after drinking and refusing to put the mask back on, etc. I don't know how the staff would handle this. I just imagine it would be constant, not to mention passengers getting into over mask & no mask. We've all seen it in the grocery stores.
  12. I think masks will be a requirement well into 2022. I agree with your DH, I don't want to cruise under those circumstances. I miss it so much but I'll gladly wait until it's more like the cruising I remember. .
  13. I would bet no cruises in 2021. My money is on 2022 at least. The vaccine rollout is a disaster.
  14. Actually, from the comments on the articles when this first happened, most people were for RCL and very much against the family.
  15. I would think it would have to be a pattern where this has happened more than once in order to be a design flaw that need to be rectified so to speak. In all the years these windows have been on these class of ships, this is the only time this happened. It's not like she was running, tripped and fell out of the window. I know you know but the sole reason this happened was he lifted her UP over the safety railing and OUT of that window.
  16. They are all looking for a huge payday, plain & simple. There is only one person responsible for her death and that is the grandfather. If it wasn't for his sole action, she would not have fallen.
  17. I completely agree. It's so telling the mom hired an attorney right away before they were even home. At least take some time to grieve and put your child to rest for goodness sake. It's all about the $$$$.
  18. That's what I've been doing. Taking my little trailer once a month out to the beaches in Ventura for a few days. Looking out at the water reminds me of cruising sitting on my balcony and at night, the oil rigs are lit up so it looks like other ships passing by at night while walking the deck.
  19. All of the cruise lines are doing the same thing. They're not forcing anyone to book but some people are just so anxious to cruise again, they keep booking, some will get canceled for a May cruise and then book a month later for June. Seems so stressful, its baffling. I've had 2 canceled and didn't rebook, I'm gladly just going to wait it out.
  20. And this is why I'll gladly wait until all this S**t is over to cruise again, it may not be until 2023, 2024, 2025 or beyond, I just don't want to cruise in this manner. I'm happy taking my little RV to the beach for a few days in the meantime.
  21. We've stayed in that cabin several times and it is awesome. The only down side is you're two decks below Lido and two different times we had stuff dropped down on us. One time, a guy threw ice out of his cup, when I got up from my chair and looked up at him like, really dude, he just said sorry and one other time, lounging out there, someone decided to throw their onions from the Mongolian Wok down which landed on my leg. It's a great cabin regardless and would always book it given the chance. Best cabin in the Spirit class.
  22. One of my absolute favorite ports to sail away from, so beautiful. I miss it so much.
