Ecstasy to be late today

One pilot, and the captain controls the ship. The only thing the harbor pilot touches is his VHF marine radio.

The Panama Canal is the one exception.

OK, I was going by Sargent Shultz asked someone if Galveston still was requiring two pilots to guide in ships, unlike NOLA who only requires one, and the person answered him yes.

I dont have any proof the answer is right, just what someone claimed here on CC. Since you live there, I assume your info is better than what I saw posted earlier today, or might have been yesterday.

 Wow....I totally did not know this! Thanks for your response. :)

But why doesn't the Captain of the ship do this?

You'll be surprised to know that even Navy ships have port pilots bringing the ship in and out of ports. Supposedly, the pilots know the waters, and know where everything is. They don't actually steer the ship, but they give the commands as to speed and headings.

msunrullieone- Glad you found a hotel & got a discount. You have had a great attitude, I agree with others, we don't always hear that part. Hope you have a great evening & everything goes smoothly for tomorrow.

Wow on the rates! I figured they would have been a little cheaper too.

We love watching the pilot board as we come back into port. So far in 15 cruises from Galveston we have only seen one.

I cannot remember my source on the Panama Canal, perhaps he will come back here and clarify.

I also carry a small receiver to listen to the pilots, Coast Guard and other communications. What a well compensated gig it is to be a harbor pilot!

Hey I just wanted to let you know they're not making any more luggage tags. I tried your link but they're not doing it anymore.

OK Thanks, Ill delete it~ Sorry you missed out. I've had that posted for months and I believe they did to the number of 100,000 free tags... Very nice Quality too; feels like a credit card!!! Anyway thanks for the update.

Hey guys and gals. I just got off the phone with carnival about pricing to book the C2N. He quoted me $299+tax= $322pp for an inside on the Empress... I said NO THANKS..... Heck, I am booked on the same ship in Dec on a 5 day and we paid $279pp. Guess alot of people are not canceling because they are not making it worthwhile.

My DBF was able to capture pictures of the pilot leaving the ship during our departure from Freeport last month. Here is the link if you are interested. I had told him prior to the cruise about the pilot boat and I had run off to the cabin at the very moment he caught it. He was so proud of himself

Must have been a math major 25+25=50

Except in this case it might not. Since it would depend on what you paid on this one you got 25% discounted ... and if they gave me 25% off, I would book something more expensive to get my money's worth.

I have a ? For those who have gone on a nowhere cruise. Are the casinos open on the cruise? Please say yes! And yes, our friends cancelled out on their aft balcony room. Not sure if we'll continue the friendship or not...j/k. Well, my DH is real happy because there's a new episode of Futurama on tonite! If that was supposed to cheer me up, it's not working. I really really really hope we get to cruise tomorrow. (we really need to get out more!)

Yes the casinos are open on the cruise to nowhere. I hope you get to go on your cruise also. I have been on a couple of these cruises and they are very relaxing and fun. Have a good time. Sorry about your friends bailing on you. They don't know what they will miss.

Yes, on the cruise to nowhere there is gambling. They take you out into international waters so everyone can have fun. That would be a huge loss of revenue if it were not allowed.

I was hoping to here back from my PVP about cheap C2N rates, but no such luck.

My PVP said the cruise tomorrow will start boarding at 2 pm, late, so don't rush to the pier tomorrow.

Just heard on the news that that hotel capacity in Galveston went from 40% booked to almost 100% booked. Looks like the stranded Ecstasy passengers helped out the hotels for the night.

Sorry I didn't get back sooner. We headed back out to international waters and I lost my cellphone signal. About 9:30pm the CD announced that the port authority had reopened the channel to all traffic and we were heading back in. They expect us to dock by midnight and disembark at normal times in the morning. The staff could not gave been better today and this evening, and tho someone we met at the Atrium bar said they saw another passenger chewing out customer service, we haven't seen any of that or heard of any similar incidents. The casino, all the bars and shops have been open. They repeated the Extreme Country show in the lounge and kareoke is going on in the Starlite Lounge.

I will do a full review in a few days. Right now I've got to repack and get my luggage back in the hallway. To all those boarding tomoro, Im sorry u will miss Cozumel, but I hope ubhave a nice trip.

My PVP just emailed me they want $279 and up to book the cruise to nowhere. Evidently not enough people have cancelled yet.

I had an early start to the weekend party tonight......while we were enjoying the pool I missed a call from my PVP. Left a message at 830 pm central time that she had the 3 day cruise to no where for $129. + $22 fees. If not for 2 more evening parties planned for the weekend I would BE THERE!! She said if we were interested or knew of anyone to have them call. I immediately thought of you Firefly knowing how much you love Ectasy. Here ya go everyone, jump on that ship!!!!

i just about flipped out when i saw that, i was ready to pack!

i JUST called, twice, at about 12.00AM, and again pretty much right after i called because i realized i didn't ask certain categories, etc, here's what i got, based on double occupancy:

279 PP 1A - 1 available

299 PP interior - 2 available

329 PP oceanview - a 'few' available

479 PP balcony - 4 available.

plus 22.08 taxes pp

all cabins will be booked on double occupancy or full 200% supplement regardless of cabin. so cheapest buy in is the 1 1A at 558.00 + 22.08 = 580.08 for a single cruiser or at double occupancy.

needless to say, i'm not packing tonight
