Ecstasy to be late today

It was fabulous! We just walked in the door a few minutes ago.

The drive down there was brutal. They told us we had to be on board by 3. We didn't leave the house til 1 and the weather was awful, so we were in a big panic. About 2.30 we called Carnival and they said we had til 3.30. I felt better about that, but DH was still in a panic. We made it to Lot A at 3.10, got immediately on a shuttle and they took us to the terminal. Oh, forgot to mention, we usually park at Lighthouse but we couldn't find it this time! We felt like idiots. But anyway, we had packed a cooler and completely forgot about the new cooler size rule. So they wouldn't let us take it on. But they handed us bags to carry all our drinks on. They didn't even ask what was in teh water bottles. :D Yeah, we made a stop at the liquor Friday morning!!

Anyway, after all that panic to get to the port, everyone in the terminal just kept telling us we had plenty of time .... they were all calm and collected. We were still in panic mode and trying to rush to get aboard! But finally we did get to board. We had booked a 1A cabin TBA and we got a regular inside cabin. We later asked and they told us the ship was probably only 70% full and we could have upgraded to an outside for about $15. But by then we were settled into our cabin and didn't want to move. Besides, all we could see was NOWHERE.

The rest of the weekend was awesome. We read a little, danced a little, lost a LOT in the casino, and ate a lot. It was over really, really quickly though. But if the opportunity came up again to do a CTN, I'd definitely do it if I could!

Apparently Carnival didnt want to sell the other 30% cabins. They could have opened those up at $100 or so and been sold out quickly. I live 40 min from there and would have loved to go. I emailed my pvp and let her know that I did not get a call from her about this so please keep me in mind next time. There are 2 tropical systems developing out there now so this chance may come again!

We got the call on Thursday evening, went early Friday. No clue why they told people not to show up until 2pm. The price was right for us with a tight summer schedule.

Boarding took less than 45 minutes from the time I parked the car in Lot A. City of Galveston woke up! Parking was $30.

Good cruise, but weird at 6 knots versus the usual speed. Very little breeze across the decks and hot both days.

Buffet food was a lacking versus other Ecstasy cruises. Dinner food and service was great as usual.

We walked off the ship at 8:45 am this morning.

Pictures link to follow after nap!

Are the PVPs there today? A lot of companies took today (Jul 5th) off.

Agreed. It was weird not to have that breeze on the upper decks. It was BLISTERING hot up there yesterday.

Also agree with you on the food. We ate most of our meals casual. We only ate dinner in the dining room the first night and it was very good. I get very frustrated that Carnival can't just make a PLAIN chocolate cake. They are always adding stuff in like coconut or orange or pear. (really? pear?) I just want a good, rich chocolate cake!! Is that so much to ask? Other than that, no real complaints about the food.

I think we walked off the ship about 9.30. Forgot to look. But we were in our car at 10am sharp heading back home.

I probly won't upload my pics cos I didn't take very many. Just too busy relaxing and having a good time.

Can't wait to do it again!

We had a great time on our C2N. Would have been better if we would have gotten in on some of the 'non-published' specials! :) We gambled a lot, drank a little, and enjoyed meeting new people. Dinner time was an eclectic crowd at our table, to say the least. This was everyone else's first time cruising, so I felt bad for them for having to miss Cozumel.

Our stateroom neighbors: We had a constantly bickering couple on one side and a screaming toddler on the other. Between those two cabins, they ensured we heard noise pretty much whenever we were in our room. lol

Had an incredibly relaxing massage in the spa. I really enjoyed this, as I usually pass on it during other cruises.

It was so nice not having to go thru Customs this morning. All in all, a great cruise!

PS I'm so glad I had Cruise Critic available to get the "real story" on what was going on our missed day of the cruise. It helped alleviate some stress from the situation. Thanks to those who posted with updates from the ship!

We returned from the C2N.. we had 35 in our group and we truly made the best of it.. Carnival arranged for MAJOR discounts for hotels in Galveston; we only live 40 minutes away..but wanted to treat Thursday night as our excursion to the San Luis Resort Hotel. They offered $99/night rates at a $400/night hotel. The pool was fabulous. We spent less money staying in Galveston than what we would spend on an excursion.

Yes those first time cruisers where upset/disappointed..but they will re-book with a discounted fare next trip. One of our first time cruiser- won the free cruise during Bingo.. She only bought 1 raffle ticket (via scratch-offs)..

The only thing that I was disappointed in, was they didn't do much for 4th of July- other than post some flags around the boat. Also seemed strange for the international waiters singing God Bless America at dinner on Sunday..
