Do you tip bartenders or cocktail servers?

Myth = tipping better (whatever that means) will get you better service on Carnival

You're making an assumption it's a myth. You've never tasted my drinks nor seen how quickly the bartenders hand them to me over the heads of those who don't tip extra so you don't really know if you're getting the same level of service as me. But you can assume you are, I don't have a problem with that. :) And I agree, it's a personal preference whether or not to tip extra above the 15%.

Not my intention. I'll put you on my ignore list so as to not accidentally respond to any of your posts under the username 5o'clocksomewhere in the future.

Best wishes,

Francie :)

In addition to the 15% added to every bar bill, I tip $1.00 cash per drink ordered. Also if the bartender [i choose to work with bartenders, not waiters] is a professional, I will leave a $5.00 when I leave the bar. Sometimes $10.00 if the btender is outstanding. Big tipper? No, selfish. Next day I come in the bar and my drink is in front of me in seconds, and it IS a 'good' drink.

Yep so true

Why? There is already a 15% tip added to drink that is over priced to begin with. Do you like throwing money away?

I think the general standard of tipping these days is 18-20 percent. So adding a little extra to the tip if the service is good is being reasonable. Plus, i feel rewarding good service is not throwing my money away! I think it's called sharing!:D

My husband usually tips a little extra and when he finds a bartender he really likes, he tips him $5 or so after the first day. He usually picks a small bar that isn't always busy. My husband also usually buys a soda card as he drinks Coke/Pepsi from when he gets up until when he goes to bed.

A few times when he ordered just a coke, he ended up with a very strong rum and coke. He was shocked the first time it happened, but then it happened a few more times and I think it's because he tips more (in cash). JMO.

There's one in every crowd. Always wants to make everything political:rolleyes:

Just trying to have a little fun. Beside I am a beer drinker usually, does not take much service to open a beer and hand it to me, so 15% is good. No need to tip extra to open a beer.

Most beer drinkers drink more then cocktail drinkers......so in the end the waiters know they will make more money off that 15% then the extra dollar someone gives them for a couple drinks.......

When we were on Royal Caribbean almost every other bucket was an extra free beer........and we never tipped over the 15%....

In the casino the bar server specifically told our group not to buy at the bar....she knew we were great customers......at 15%

Well my wife does not drink beer, so I will not be ordering any buckets of beer.

Yep, once we stayed at the Westin St. John (gross beach but nice hotel and pool) anyway, hubby tipped the swim up bar bartender and a couple hours later I was a bit happier than I'd planned. He must have gone heavy with the rum in my rum punches. I didn't notice and hubby was drinking beer so he guided me back to the heavenly bed to sleep it off. :)

Next day, hubby explained to the bartender to just stick with the normal amount of rum.

We still laugh about it.

I always get the same service as those that tip extra. After all, the more people they ring up, the more money they make, so why would they ignore you, when they will get auto tipped?

If you do not tip extra, you cannot possibly know that.

Try tipping extra, consistently, and you will find out there IS a difference.

Also the 15% is NOT part of the auto-tip. The 15% is pooled and divided among the bar waiters and bartenders. It has nothing to do with the auto-tip. The 15% is pooled, do you think the CASH is pooled too????

Do you tip the bartenders or cocktail servers who bring you drinks in the casino or any area in addition to your regular tips? Thanks:)

No! I don't drink alcohol, and I don't tip for drinks I don't get.:p

Happy cruising to all!

Well bless your heart!

I certainly hope so. It isn't a moral, or judgmental thing. I had 18 operations before I was 18 years old, and I came down with a natural aversion to ether (because of the surgeries). The smell of all alcohol reminds me of ether, which causes me to gag. That was the reason for the :p.

Happy cruising to all!

We do tip extra (usually the $1 per drink and then a larger tip at the end of the cruise if a partiuclar bartender has been good to us- or rather, my husband, since I'm not a huge drinker). My husband is a bartender, so he believes in "tip karma," (a.k.a. "what goes around comes around." :D :D :D So I guess that's a selfish reason too, LOL!!!!! :p

I too believe in "tip Karma"...since my daughter is in a tip-driven business, she gets so frustrated with the cheapos out there who refuse to even tip at all . Since the 15% is already on the bill, I agree no need for anything extra unless you want too. Thanks all for the advice:)

15% is pooled at the bar not the servers......but it really doesn't matter.....if people who tip extra think they are getting better service I suppose that's all that matters:D I'm not sure how much better service I can get now.......wait maybe they can put a kegger in my cabin:D

Now were talking !
