What is the lowest deck you have been on?

We are going on the LIBERTY at the end of August, and will be on Deck2. We have never been that low before, but since we need two connecting(the one with the door in between)cabins..we got what we could afford. I will say though,it will be our first cruise with a porthole, we normally have inside cabins. On this ship, we couldnt get a 3 person and 2 person cabin with the door in between..Either way, it doesnt matter.. I wan to cruise, andwhy spend money on higher decks to get same service..I figured we can save the money for exursions and such. We are a one income family so we have to be creative..

So tell me, anybody else ever stay on Deck 2. Please tell me the pros and cons.

Riveria is actually my favorite. I don't feel any motion and it is usually very quiet. On my next cruise they actually upgraded me to 2nd floor because I was a past cruiser. I called back and had them change me to Riveria because when I looked at the deck plans there was a lounge right above me. I like having cabins above me.

Being on a really low deck used to be an issue back in the "old days", but with the newer ships having several service decks below the passenger decks, there really isn't a feel of being in the bowels of the ship.... the fact that you have an outside cabin is proof of that.

Elevators are your friend...

I remember being below sea level on one of our early cruises (back when the earth's crust was cooling, i believe :) )

it was horrible. We didn't know what the weather was, whether it was night or day, and we felt like we were in a tiny dungeon.

You will not feel like that at all.... especially since the cabins are such good size and you have daylight.

No cruising experience is like that now.... however, it may explain why we only book cabins with balconies now... that claustrophobic feeling stays with you!

Our cabins have always been either on Upper or Empress on the port side. We will be "breaking" this when we sail on Freedom in October - got two cabins on the Lido deck to see what all of the hubbub is all about ;-)

We also enjoy staying on the lower decks, you are closer to the tender doors, only go down one flight of stairs and you're to your cabin while everyone else is tired and waiting on the elevator to take them four flights up.

Also when going to the dining room or buffet, you can walk all the way to the aft of the ship, then go up the less busy elevator and you're there, no highway traffic to deal with or walking through casinos, etc.

Lido is "da bomb". Only place we stay anymore...except Fantasy class. Have to do the Verandah because there are no lido cabins.

YES!

Let's see - Empress (IS guarantee), Riveria, Main, Main, Riveria and now one more Riveria and Lido for my upcoming cruises.

Whichever offers me the best deal!

My deceased husband liked to be on the lowest deck with a balcony so he could drop his fishing line. But on our last cruise together he was told he couldn't do that anymore.

We can still go fishing but you need to be on a low deck and use the proper bait.

Only problem is the last one I caught they would not cook for me and had to bring it to the sushi chef.

Well he was told he couldn't and we didn't want to get kicked off the boat.

Gosh, you are not even on the bottom passenger deck (Riviera), which on Liberty is deck 1. You are in a good location. You are on deck 2 (Main).

We've been on the bottom deck. There are no "CONS" all the full passenger decks are identical. A longer or shorter elevator ride and a longer or shorter stair climb is the only difference. And there is a tiny bit less motion on the lower decks, but we have 'sea legs' and do not worry about motion. Having a club or lounge above you is MUCH more important than the deck #

We prefer a balcony, but once we won a cruise on Carnival and we were given a window cabin on the 2nd floor of the ship. It was very nice and we had no complaints. I enjoy the balcony alot so that is the way we go, however, there was nothing wrong with the 2nd floor window except we could not get out on a balcony. Have a wonderful time and enjoy yourselves fully. Cruising is very relaxing and the best, to me. :)

Well I think I dont know where my deck is then:confused:... I am probably on Deck 1 then, I dont really know.. my cabin number 1424, so is that Deck 1?? I am looking at my receipt/booking stuff for the cruise and it doesnt say, but for some reason I was thinking deck 2..so if its Deck 1, does that mean one deck about the crew???;)
