IOTS--Smoking

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I appreciate this question must have been asked lots of time ,but I can't find a recent posting on the boards.:(.

When sailing from IOTS from Southampton-where on board can you smoke.Any smoking in the casino.

Thanks in advance.

There are outdoor areas (you'll see the ashtrays) for smokers. You may smoke on your balcony, if you have one. You may smoke in the casino on most nights...they usually don't allow it in the casino on formal nights.

A few of the bars have smoking sections.

No smoking in any dining room or other public area.

Actually you are a tad wrong as the Indy when sailing from Southampton has different smoking rules.

Smoking is limited on the Indy, you can smoke on your balcony, the port side of the open decks of decks 4,11 & 12 & Deck 4 of the Labryinth nightclub.

I'm not doubting you given your numerous helpful posts, but I have been wondering if much has changed in the 18 months I will have between cruises. About the time of my last cruise I remember hearing about some ships were trying this practice out. Has it been adopted as a standard practice? I'm not much of a casino go-er, but I would make a point to visit on the non-smoking night, and be happy with just that one night.

Not looking for a fight, I'm a non-smoking activist who has helped to make lots of places locally non-smoking, but its never been a problem for me on a cruise except when I accidentally sat down in the wrong area on a pool deck. (I moved when I realized)

It generally used to be that the Casino was non smoking all day on formal nights on many ships, however, they are trying a new set up, this was in use on Freedom last week, where a small section of the casino, not the bar area was smoking all 7 days, and the majority was non smoking. As previously pointed out Indy follows different rules as she sails out of the UK and other ships follow more relaxed rules when they sail out of mainland Europe
