TNM Posted September 12, 2010 #1 Share Posted September 12, 2010 Hi were sailing on the Destiny on Thursday, we have a inside cabin on deck 7. I thought I read that there are no mini bar/mini fridges on the Destiny, is that true? If not, will the ice bucket be big enough to keep a bottle of wine and a couple small bottles of water cold all the time? Just trying to plan our packing...if not, I really don't want to lug all this water, soda and wine with us in the carry on. Thanks for any input. cb at sea Posted September 12, 2010 #2 Share Posted September 12, 2010 It should be sufficient for the wine...for water, just put ice in a glass and pour the water over it...
Sarah@Sea Posted September 12, 2010 #3 Share Posted September 12, 2010 You can take a cooler 12x12x12. I carried a small one on, others have taken softsided collapsable ones in their checked luggage. My room steward kept it filled with ice each day. It was great.
Rare Buffettfan 225 Posted September 12, 2010 #4 Share Posted September 12, 2010 Confirming there are no refrigerators on Destiny except suites. We also bring a zippered collapsible cooler (better if find one without seams inside),line it with a huge ziploc-use for storing soda, water & ice. Then also take it on excursions-only amount we plan on drinking- fill ziplocs with ice.) We also request an extra ice bucket and wrap towels around it. In a pinch fill sink with ice, put items in and cover with a towel.
woodey Posted September 12, 2010 #5 Share Posted September 12, 2010 Here is the best solution Ask the Room Stewart to keep it full... a few dollars will help give him the incentive :)
TNM Posted September 12, 2010 Author #6 Share Posted September 12, 2010 Thanks for the tips and the picture too, I think I have a soft cooler somewhere..I've done the "ice in the sink" thing before hahaha, it does work, so not a bad temporary measure...i didnt know you could ask for a 2nd ice bucket, nice. salty dingo Posted September 12, 2010 #7 Share Posted September 12, 2010 A cooler is a good idea because the ice buckets are pretty small.
