Bed Bugs on Holland America at all?

NYC does have an infestation of bedbugs, but unfortunately they are being found all over the country, and as mentioned before, it only takes one person who has them in their clothing or suitcase to bring them to a 5*hotel, a restaurant, a movie theater or a ship. They can live in any chair that has material on it too.The question in my mind is if you find them on the ship in your cabin, then what?

live anywhere there is a teeny tiny crack because unless engorged with blood they are almost flat..

If u buy used wooden furniture even I suggest u leave it in your garage and vacum it out thoroughly before bringing it inside....they can survive for up to a year also...:O

As far as finding them on a ship and they already have on other cruiselines (perhaps even on HAL - only the staff know for sure if they find them between pax and they won't tell)... If u discover them, u wld likely be moved out while they try to clean them out as best they can..might take out the carpet but can't do a thorough fumigation so might leave some behind...Of course the cabin u are entering cld have already been done between pax also...or might be the one beside the one that was infested (they can migrate between rooms and do)..

The staff are supposed to check for them and the cruiseline isn't going to tell the next pax they just cleaned trying to get rid of them.....

Imagine the sign they wld leave on the desk and how fast pax wld panic..not to mention not want to book a cruise again..:

Hi - Welcome Aboard,

We hope u have a wonderful cruise with us.

Oh by the way, if u see a bed bug please inform your steward immediately - when we cleaned we might have missed a few.....:D

Thankyou - Your Friendly Cruiseline

During dry docks ships are fumigated automatically...kills bed bugs and other bugs like spiders & ants plus mice & rats they might have acquired during their travels..This is not broadcast for obvious reasons - pax don't get told everything..:)

The odds of u even seeing a bed bug are slim - its in a cruiselines best interests to keep their ships as free of same as possible but pax have a responsibility to help by generally being aware of the problem..Check your bed/boxspring & headboard areas very carefully wherever u happen to stay...don't put luggage on a bed, put everything possible in plastic and when u arrive home leave the luggage in the garage or outside, wash/dry everything carefully & vacum out the luggage before bringing it inside..

Plus when u purchase anything second hand - check it out and clean it before bringing it into your residence.....Then u likely won't become a bed bug 'home invasion' victim :)

Have happy cruisin'! :)

Your current thread started today re bed bugs is fine but did you have to bring up a thread from 2010 to help? It sort makes your current thread seem somewhat irrelevant, to me. JMO Cherie

Since the Zaandam was in San Diego on 9/28/17, this is obviously false.

Exactly! The Veendam disembarked in Montreal on Saturday.....not the Zaandam. I spy a troll. [emoji23]
