loopyloo33 Posted September 23, 2010 #1 Share Posted September 23, 2010 Does anybody know what it currently is aboard P&O ships?
CASPALL Posted September 23, 2010 #2 Share Posted September 23, 2010 It will change daily. Whatever it is - you'll get a better exchange rate elsewhere. eg. Post Office before you go -or ATM ashore (if you are with a bank that doesn't zap you with transaction charges) Caryl
loopyloo33 Posted September 23, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted September 23, 2010 I am with a bank who charges a fortune!! I just wandered what the actual difference was. If it's only a couple of cents, for convenience was going to use the boat. Don't in tend on spending that much ashore!!
BrianI Posted September 23, 2010 #4 Share Posted September 23, 2010 Just got off Oriana today and it was €1.11 to £1. I believe they fix the rate at the start of the cruise for the duration so as the pound has fallen since the start of our cruise, it would be a bit less on a cruise starting today. Certainly it was always the same rate quoted in the daily ships paper. For comparison I got €1.194 from an ATM in Palma using Nationwide three days into the cruise. jeanlyon Posted September 23, 2010 #5 Share Posted September 23, 2010 It was 1.11 on Azura 2 days ago. Probably less now. Tesco is the best rate I've found. Or use your debit card to withdraw.
loopyloo33 Posted September 23, 2010 Author #6 Share Posted September 23, 2010 Great thanks for your replies. It's currently 1.13 on Travelex so not much of a difference on a few hundred pounds.
CASPALL Posted September 23, 2010 #7 Share Posted September 23, 2010 "For comparison I got €1.194 from an ATM in Palma using Nationwide three days into the cruise." Nationwide changing their rules now Brian. We were with them because they were one of the very few banks that didn't zap you for taking your "own money" out (debit card). That's all changing from November though. Caryl
BrianI Posted September 23, 2010 #8 Share Posted September 23, 2010 Caryl I am aware of the forthcoming changes. Still will be a competitive rate though. I just gave that as an example of the difference with the ships rates, which dont seem very good on any cruiseline. Brian
Thejuggler Posted September 23, 2010 #9 Share Posted September 23, 2010 P&O rate has been better than PO on both our cruises - it is fixed for the duration. There's only ever a few cents in it and we don't need lots of cash. For expensive purchases ashore we use a credit card.
CASPALL Posted September 23, 2010 #10 Share Posted September 23, 2010 Brian Halifax looking better than Nationwide at the moment. Caryl
