mytime53 Posted September 24, 2010 #3 Share Posted September 24, 2010 We tried to rent a car upon arrival a couple of years ago. All we got was a run around for a while...go there, go here... Finally "come back this afternoon". We never did get a car, but I know they're there! At that time, car rentals were at the pier.
Arubalisa Posted September 25, 2010 #4 Share Posted September 25, 2010 http://www.amigocar.com/ With an advance reservation, Amigo should be able to pick you up at the pier.
alphakitty Posted February 5, 2011 #5 Share Posted February 5, 2011 We recently had the misfortune to rent from Amigo. There were 3 vehicles rented in our group and all were in pretty bad shape. 2 of the 3 vehicles were empty on gas when we got them too...makes it difficult to bring them back with the same level. The check in process was very slow. One of the vehicles had no brake lights, one had the check engine light on the whole time and ran pretty badly and we even got a flat tire and had to change it! They offered no recompense for these problems. I would not recommend Amigo, go elsewhere for your own safety. Also, be aware, they rent 4x4's, but then tell you you cannot use them in the sand. There is no night drop, so they had to be returned by 6PM island time, which was 5PM ship time for our cruise. We were in port until 10PM.
Wefewee Posted February 7, 2011 #6 Share Posted February 7, 2011 Many of the good companies are full, depending on which day you require. We've arranged a car for March with Royal Aruba Car Rental - they're close to the Ship Port. $50 for a Toyota Yaris for the day and that includes mileage and liability insurance. phoenix_dream Posted February 10, 2011 #7 Share Posted February 10, 2011 It has been several years, but I believe we used Hertz when we rented, and the booth was right at the pier. I do agree that the return time was a bit earlier than we would have liked.
