Construction and jelly fish on Great Stirrup Cay?

Recent reviews mention the construction and jelly fish on Great Stirrup Cay. Has anyone been there recently that can comment?

Yes they are doing construction to add more fun stuff to the island. We did see 2 jelly fish during our visit there on November 11th.

The construction is out of the way behind the big slide. There was a sign up saying that jelly fish "season" was in September but we never saw any on the 14th of November

I've heard NCL is making some big changes to GSC. My last visit to GSC was in 2006. We will be stopping there in March. What changes have taken place? Will there be more for us to do? Thanks

Don't know about the Jelly fish, but there is no way they can refurished the island without some contruction.

We were at GSC on 11/10. We did see numerous jelly fish - but didn't seem to be painful for anybody in our group of 12. There was construction but it didn't interfere at all with the visit. This was my favorite stop for the whole cruise. Nice beach, great music, relaxing.

Hi,

 

Was on GSC last feb and there was plenty :eek: jellyfish BUT none were harmful (all small size ) and only a few species are actually harmful.

 

Spent all day in the beautiful water.

Loved the GEM, and have 5 more cruises on her booked for 2011 and 2012. :) It's a beautiful ship with a very friendly crew, they make us feel at home when ever we are on the ship.

I was there last week and we didn't see any jellyfish. The water was very nice. Although there is construction equipment on the island behind the beach and barely visible, we didn't hear any activity while we were there.

 

GSC has great potential and the only way to get her there is with some construction. Hopefully everyone will have as nice a day there as we did while we all await the finshed product. When the improvements are complete it should be fabulous!
