krysti0423 Posted November 29, 2010 #1 Share Posted November 29, 2010 I have been doing a lot of research and I am ready to book my cruise, however, like most, I am on a budget. Do most travel companies online negotiate prices?
paul929207 Posted November 29, 2010 #2 Share Posted November 29, 2010 The cruise lines will not negotiate. Some cruise lines prohibit TA's from discounting. For these, the price is fixed, but some will give other perks, like OBC, a bottle of wine, etc. Other lines allow TA's to discount.
Toto2Kansas Posted November 29, 2010 #3 Share Posted November 29, 2010 I have been doing a lot of research and I am ready to book my cruise, however, like most, I am on a budget. Do most travel companies online negotiate prices? If you have decided to sail on a princess cruise, you need to start searching for a discount Travel Agent. Princess allows discounting by TA's and some give nice discounts. Others can charge the same price as princess does or more. So, if you can do some online research, you should be able to find yourself a discount TA to fit into your budget. TA's don't negotiate, but they do offer a discount on the price price Princess charges and many also offer shipboard credits as well as other perks. Good Luck! Cruisin' Chick Posted November 29, 2010 #4 Share Posted November 29, 2010 Just be careful about posting names of travel agencies and TAs on this site. It's a no no. Another thing is to make sure that you read the fine print. Often, some of the discounters will not disclose all of the fees, taxes, etc. until you are told of the final amount. And many have a cancellation fee if you need to make changes or cancel your cruise. Another thing to consider is if you are new to cruising, you may want to pay a little extra (again, it may not be extra if you have all the costs totalled), and have a cruise specialist who would be more personal with you (if you have questions about which cruiseline or ship or itinerary, the online companies won't try to find out what would work for you the best, while a cruise specialist that is sitting across from you at a desk in an agency will ask you questions about what's important to you). If you end up with some problem before your cruise, that type of TA may be of more help.
Rare Woobstr112G Posted November 29, 2010 #5 Share Posted November 29, 2010 As the previous poster has stated, do not mention names of travel agents/agencies on CC. It's a big no no..... Bob
Colo Cruiser Posted November 29, 2010 #6 Share Posted November 29, 2010 There is very little wiggle room for a TA.
