bridedoll1026 Posted December 20, 2010 #1 Share Posted December 20, 2010 Does anyone know what's going on in the Ft. Lauderdale/Miami area the weekend of 2/26/11? The hotels seem to be pricey. Also we'll be flying in to FLL & leaving from POM. Any suggestions on where to stay for 1 night? Thanks for any help.....:)
Maryandi Posted December 20, 2010 #2 Share Posted December 20, 2010 Look at the www.sunny.org , the Visitor & Convention Bureau will know. From Approx. Dec. 15th thru Easter is High season - prices are going to be high. Lots of tourists and special events. I make a hotel reservation the same day I book a cruise, usually a year in advance. Good Luck and Enjoy, M.A.
JohninDC Posted December 20, 2010 #3 Share Posted December 20, 2010 If you are flying into FLL it is usually easier and cheaper to stay in that area and then shuttle to POM the day of your cruise. SAS (www.ridesas.com) is oftne suggested on these boards for shuttle service - typical fare is $15 per person each way (they can transport you from POM back to FLL after your cruise). Lots of options in the FLL area, from discount hotels near the airport, to most of the major chains in the 17th street area, to high dollar options on the beach. What are you interested in and what's your budget? As mentioned above, you are looking at high season for all of south FLA - you are not the only one hoping to escape the cold and snow. Good luck! :)
snowmen Posted December 20, 2010 #4 Share Posted December 20, 2010 Could you make a 1:00 pm flight out of FLL when trip ends at POM?
BobT172 Posted December 20, 2010 #5 Share Posted December 20, 2010 Could you make a 1:00 pm flight out of FLL when trip ends at POM? Should not be a problem.... we self disembarked from an NCL cruise in POM, took a taxi and was in FLL at 8:50AM... taxi was about $85 + tip. NCL would not book transfers for flights from FLL prior to 1:00PM...cost for two would have been equivalent to a taxi.
JohninDC Posted December 20, 2010 #6 Share Posted December 20, 2010 Could you make a 1:00 pm flight out of FLL when trip ends at POM? It is a 40+ minute drive from POM to FLL. Even if you wait to get off, unless there is some extraordinary delay you'll be clear of customs & immigration and ready to travel by about 9:00, putting you at FLL by 10:00 -- you'll make it easy. ;) A taxi from POM to FLL will run about $90+ Better to arrange for a shuttle, or if you want to spend that kind of money, a limo. Good luck! :)
