Dubi. red bus.

Can anyone give me info on Big Red Bus that operates,in Dubi.also can you walk anywhere from the terminal.we are there overnght Brilliance of Sea.so any info on where to go helpfull.:o

You cannot walk any where from Dubai port.

Muscat was our favourite port and I can highly recommend the private tour we took there.

It is probably a mile or so from the ships to the exit from the port and it is usually very hot. I would not recommend walking.

The port area is not "walk friendly" in that the roads appear to be fairly new and kind of "freeway-style". It would take quite a long walk to get to anywhere you would want to get to. However, when we were there last month, there were numerous taxis waiting right outside the port building and the Big Red Bus was also there. The bus ran a shuttle approx every 15 minutes to a large shopping centre, where passengers could then board either the Red Route (old city area) bus or the Blue Route (beach area bus).

The shuttle ran in reverse to return to the port.

..and when you get to the gates there is not a lot there anyway so you'll still need to catch a cab to get where you want to go to!

FWIW the black marble building with the gold hoops just by the gate is the New Gold Souk - you may get some diamond bargains here but not as atmospheric as the original Gold souk

The Big Red Bus Company has a kiosk inside the port building where you can purchase tickets, get information on the routes, etc.

This is the link to the hop on hop off Dubai Big Bus. We used it in June and found it to be a great way to take in the sites of Dubai. We also took the free Dubai Creek dhow cruise included in the cost of the Big Bus ticket. The website shows the routes, cost, sites etc.
