BMT Posted February 12, 2011 #226 Share Posted February 12, 2011 Update No 42, final. the tipping envelopes have arrived and as I have prepaid my tips, I have 4 tear off slips addressed to the Head Waiter, Waiter, Assistant Waiter and stateroom attendant. I tore them off and inserted each in the correct envelope to hand out this evening, it seems strange to do this as with Cunard the tips are just taken from your account and nothing is handed over. It is almost like me having to prove to the waiters that I have prepaid the tips and am not just ignoring the issue. Fin. Has been fun reliving the cruise with you. Thanks for taking the time to do it. Re the tipping envelopes. I seem to recall quite a hullaballoo when they implemented the tipping in advance for some passengers, as people really like to put something in the hands of the staff when saying goodbye, so they produced these slips. It is rather embarrassing I suppose, if you are at a big table and people have their envelopes and those who pre-tip, don't. I believe that the staff DO know in advance, who has pre-tipped. Have a safe trip home and I hope that the disembarkation goes well.

2catfamily Posted February 12, 2011 #228 Share Posted February 12, 2011 The envelopes are also given when you pre pay so if you really enjoyed someones treatment you can give a little more in cash in the envelope.

upwarduk Posted February 12, 2011 #232 Share Posted February 12, 2011 Sounds as though you could have called in Vigo on the way home. I suppose the time is needed for head winds, but it does seem a shame that you have had 3 sea days to fill. ( I love sea days if I can sunbathe) Thanks for all the info. Missus Makkem Posted February 19, 2011 #234 Share Posted February 19, 2011 just read this revue and did wonder if we had been on the same cruise but it made interesting reading. I hope the lady who was taken off at Gib the first time passing is well and her heart attack was not too serious, we watched the whole process from our balcony and it was so efficient but she looked ghastly poor soul. never heard about the deaths or suicide and as they only have 2 morgues onboard wonder how they managed? The Captain was wonderful keeping us informed of the coming gales and storm as we came home, he left Cadiz 5 hours early to get ahead of it and for that reason he had to waste? time doing loops in the English channel before our arrival, but as he said trying to ride the storm could have delayed our arrival and made a lot of folk miss their transport so welll done Captain Teo. BMT Posted February 19, 2011 #235 Share Posted February 19, 2011 Hello Missus, Hmmm.... well, Mr. Collins of Claygate (a friend of Capnpugwash?:D:D) only gave two stars and yet said he enjoyed the cruise!! This was on cruisedotcodotuk. We like Capt. Teo also - he was so funny when we lost the mid-prop - I suppose this could have affected his decisions also - must lose some power in a really heavy sea, as had been forecast. Horses for courses, says I:p Mum and I are doing a Cunard cruise in September - I am beginning to wonder what I am letting myself in for - I think its all going to be too upscale for a pleb like moi:eek::eek: Just booked another Indie for June - two weeks round the Med....... again:) Mind you, if they 'parked' her 3 miles offshore Palma for two weeks, we would be perfectly happy and it would leave a tiny carbon footprint - and I would leave more spondooliks (sp?) in the Casino!! Love to yah both.
