Booking Onboard

Has anyone had any experience with booking their next cruise whilst on board a current one?

We usually book with High Street TA or a Cruise Agent. Wondered if there were any advantages with booking onboard.

We are on Oceana at end of Feb til 14th March, s'pose its too early for a sneak peek of next years cruises!

There are advantages, better prices & OBC, you can also get your discount from your TA too, never done this, don't often think that far ahead! Same as the £200 deposit business can't se us doing that either. As for paying in advance but losing allof it should you cancel, no thanks.

I've never booked on board.

As regards dates, they might just be available. I see that I emailed my boss to request the relevant holiday dates for this May's cruise on 19 March last year, so the brochure must have been out, and my wife and I must have had the chance to discuss and agree on the cruise. Actual bookings didn't open until late April, but we obviously had the info by about mid-March.

Daughter and Son in Law on Arcadia at the moment on the Worldie. Booked same for next year and transfered the booking to their TA.

OBC :D

TA discount :D

As we are dealing with the mail for their business whilst they are away, and have to open ALL mail, we have seen the TA discount

Anyone else wise enough to use Bath Travel?

P&O have a Future Cruise Downpayment deal.

The way it works is you pay £200 per person on board. You get a certificate for the £200 which you can use to book any cruise at any travel agent and the £200 goes to pay your deposit, topped up if neccessary with cash if it is more. You have 12 months to book although the cruise can be outside the 12 months.

You get the normal benefits that are available at the time you book and in addition get extra on board credit as follows

2-7 nights £25 per person

8-14 nights £50

15-21 nights £75

22+ nights £100.

So if you are going in March, you can use it for the next years cruises when they are released in April, or for a late deal later in the year

Yes, we booked our next cruise on Oceana 18 months ago whilst on Oriana. Got good OBC with them, booking transferred to our local TA when we got home and we also got their OBC so it was worth it as far as were concerned - particularly as it was a cruise that we really wanted to do and when speaking to the girl on board she advised that the transits of the Panama Canal would be ceasing for a while.

Whenever I have called Bath Travel to get a price all they say is what price have you had? I just say give me your best price, they ask what I already have & I say just do your best, they ask for the prices we already have again so I ring off. Don't like this price matching it seems tacky somehow.

I think it must depend on which branch of Bath Travel you deal with. Our local branch could not meet the price of a P&O cruise we had been quoted by a specialist cruise agent. The people in the local branch do not seem very knowledgeable about cruising either.
